Sources told Sporting News that Johnson, whose option must be picked up by July 7, was assured that the only way he would not have his option picked up was if Boston signed two max-contract players. In other words, Horford and Durant.

I have to figure Danny doesn't like any other fa this year. So he is keeping expiring salary of amir so he can sign someone next year or use amirs salary in a trade this year

That doesn't mean they can sign Barnes or someone else to a Max deal. Does it?

Makes sense.  Now that the KD thing is settled, there may be a bidding war for the remaining FAs out there.  DA will not overpay, that's for sure.

Like we expected. Honestly, I don't think there are good players left in FA, hence why DA might try to regroup our old guys and wait until next year.

Under the current market Amir is ridiculously undervalued at 12m. It's a no-brainer.

Of course the option is going to picked up now, the cap space will not be better utilized with what's out there, and he still represents a player that can be traded. He's relatively cheap now also as opposed to potential alternatives.

He is also proven to be an excellent fit with our current roster. Why would we take a chance on a comparable (likely lesser) option when we already have Amir? He reportedly really wanted to stay. I am happy for him.

Id still like to sign Terrence Jones to a show me type contract. after that Im good with running it back. Signing a mediocre player to a big contract is not what we need right now.

Jerebko, maybe even more so. He's a small ball 4 who's only making $5 million a year. He could double his salary easy if he hit the market right now.

I think the Celtics are done signing free agents but they aren't done making deals this summer.

I don't think they're strong enough up front with Johnson to contend. He didn't show enough last year. If they keep him into the season, it will not be a good sign. They have to pick up his option, because they have no other options right now. They spent all their efforts on Durant.
Trading will cost them other good players.

Horford has said he doesn't like to play in the middle. Maybe that French guy can surprise up front. But they'll be short and won't match up well against bigger teams. Gasol would have made a difference.

After KD joining the Warriors, I would still like us to gauge a trade for Butler or Cousins first now to utilize our cap space, especially Cousins. They're nowhere close to competing to get out of the Western Conference, and he's most likely going to leave in a couple of years anyways. They might as well go young and build around some draft picks.

Also, Chicago should try and go young now instead of build around Butler, who is already going to be 27 before the season. They're not building a contender around him in time, especially not now with even bigger super teams out in the West.

Even if we keep Jerebko and Amir, we would still have $11 MM left in cap space, so that could be a possibility.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I would still be in favor of a deadline deal for Butler (Crowder and a BKN pick plus filler) but some on CB don't think he moves the needle enough (like cousins would).

As far as CHI goes, they just signed Rondo so they may not want to deal anyway.
