Durant joining the Monstars is the biggest coward move in the history of Sports, imo.   They have the title locked up for the foreseeable future unless Durant's bone graft fails him.

That said, I'm still pumped for the future.   We have a nice little team.  We were top 5 in PPG last season and top 13 defensively.  Horford is going to be a huge help on both ends.  It's going to be fun to watch our young guys.  We still have a ton of assets available to trade for the next star that becomes available (somethin tells me Westbrook is hittin the trade market soon, for example).

Danny could utilize that cap space to absorb salary in a trade.  They could still grab someone like Pau Gasol, D-Wade or even get Harrison Barnes to give us another talent boost.  Who knows.

I know it's a bummer getting teased like that, but we're in great shape.  A decade from now when Golden State ages out, all our babies will be hitting their prime.

I'm with you my friend..  I know most teams will moan and Groan over what Durant did but These Celtics are full of fighters who play with Chips on their shoulders.. Blue Collar guys who would relish the challenge of taking on Any Super Team..

Lets play ball..

Durant would have been lucky to play with these guys and our fans..

I too am pumped for the future and will consider the NBA again in 5-10 years.  I have cancelled DirecTV and will enjoy all the free time from not watching the worse than WWE absurdity of it all.

Definitely a good bit of optimism- TP

Being teased is better than not being considered at all..that alone is a huge change for our team. Not to be the ugly duckling of free agency anymore is a huge step in the right direction and Horford left the only team he has ever known for "Greener" pastures.

We are on the right track and with continued patience, we should be able to take advantage of potential free agent and deadline opportunities in the coming year.

Me too. Next target is Cousins (trade). Then Blake Griffin (FA 2017). Then Millsap (FA 2017). Plus Jimmy Butler (trade) is still around. A lot of alternatives still open to us to push this team towards title contention.

  • GOT IT!!!
TP

Just keep chipping away adding pieces and building through the draft. That's the only thing the C's can do. Winning a title with guys from the ground up is always the best feeling anyways.

Love the players.  Love the coach.  Love the GM.  Love the chance to beat the unbeatable foe.

Let's go Celtics!

Absolutely. This is crippling for teams like San Antonio and Cleveland, but we should be fine. 3 years from today, Jaylen Brown will be 22. We'll be fine.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I would be no matter what. I'm not pulling a Durant and giving up! I want the Celtics to fight and win!!!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

At this point, pending transactions by BKN, I still believe our best bet is through the draft.  Then in 2017 obtain another FA signing. I would much rather this vs a trade that blows up our core, to pretty much inevitably still lose to this newly formed evil empire.

I'm still very excited for our future.

Yup.  We still ended up with one of the premiere free agents.   Just gotta wait out the Golden State Dynasty.

I'm disappointed. I was so emotionally invested in the sweepstakes and we missed our shot to contend for titles. Even more disappointed that he chose the Warriors of all places. Thought differently of his character.

I don't see us actually being contenders for titles in a while. Danny Ainge has become rather weak in pulling the trigger these last few years.

I'm perhaps sounding weak mentally too, but [dang] I really wanted KD  :(
