IMO I don't want Curt representing Celtics in any shape or form and if you knew much about him you would agree with me.
and what exactly do you know?

- Was recently fired from ESPN for tweeting meme portraying transgender people as revolting perverts.
- Compared Muslims to Nazis
- Refutes evolution
- Defended South Carolina's flying of the Confederate flag
- Opposes gay marriage

First two things rondohondo covered. You, in fact, are the one who does not know much...but you sure as hell think you do, you are smugly, righteously proud of how much you know, lol, and that's a problem, because you're not only basing your perception of reality on groupthink word-of-mouth instead of actually investigating the details of situations yourself, you're basing your confidence in that perception on the overflowing arrogance of a hivemind. Third thing he literally cannot do unless he discovered physical or mathematical proof that evolution is wrong, like, carbon-dated billion-year-old graffiti scrawled across Mount Everest of God's to-do list, or some kind of genetic evidence that Lamarck was right. Fourth thing would be creepy and I would b**** him out myself for it on social media because I despise Confederate flags, except for the fact that he is a history geek, and his stance on it is coming less from a reactionary hivemind opposite yours than from a nerd fetish, he's still wrong about it, but in the least brainless way. Fifth thing is an opinion, one I don't share, but not necessarily a stain of intolerance.

And this is what's wrong with today's society. So a person cannot have his own opinions? He shouldn't be vilified for having these opinions.

Lol your point has been used for decades about Blacks and hispanics. You can easily replace the word 'transgender' or 'gay' with black and you understand it isn't an opinion its bigotry.

If you were Muslim that post would be extremely hurtful, as it essentially saying why take the chance of letting in or associating with muslims because there's a chance they will be a terrorist, would you repeat that statement to Kareem or Muhammad Ali if he was still alive?

I never said I agree with what he says. Opinions hurt people, sure. It's also his OPINION. Because he doesn't have the "popular" opinion doesn't mean he should be vilified. And that's exactly what you're doing like many other people usually do. The hive mind, the collective that call for someone's firing because of his opinions.

These days, being intolerant is actually tolerant. It is a very strange phenomenon.

A good portion of college aged folks in the United States today are some of the most confused people in history.

This is a really bad topic and someone could be offended. Better off stopping yourselves from digging deeper. Just enjoy the Shilling letter.

Fair enough I understand where you are coming from, I apologise if I upset you, all I was originally say was I don't want Curt having any association with the Celtics before this whole thing blew up lol

slightly biased bias fan (Fitting), reread the meme, it's about muslim extremists not all muslims. Really look at it and think hard.

Do you understand what analogies are?

If an average non-Nazi German in the mid-1930's had his feelings hurt by the right side of the meme, would you care? There was something rotten in German culture. A tradition of very bad thinking. It's a cultural thing, a meme system thing, not a racial or ethnic thing.

Yes, I absolutely would bring it up to both Ali and Jabbar, because I cherish having frank, difficult conversations with intelligent people. Your mindmob tries to passive-aggressively control and stifle and censor conversation by Othering and Stigmatizing people who disagree with you because they think you are obliviously, hypocritically betraying your own principles.

What's clear from reading this thread is that Shilling is one of the most polarizing figures in sports because of how vocal he is with his opinions. Many of his opinions put him in the minority. I am not going t pass judgement on those opinions. Some of them I completely disagree with. Some I understand but ultimately disagree with. I personally am fine with differing opinions and welcome them as a way to see all angles and to further vet my own beliefs.

All that being said...I have no idea about Kevin Durant's belief system, nor do I know how welcoming he is to differing opinions. So without having that knowledge, I really prefer that Shil stay out of this!

"Lalalalala, you disagree with me and call me out on things so I'm putting you on a Bad People list and pretending you don't exist, I don't hear you, I don't hear you, lalalalala..."

Smug because "if you knew much about him you would agree with me" means that you think the only people who disagree with you about him don't know much, are ignorant, whereas you know much more. When, in reality, you do not, lol. Not just smug but a weird combination of irritatingly and hilariously smug. Hilarious because you are so laughably un-self-aware. A poor grasp on a situation plus irrational confidence is always a recipe for comedy. But since on a larger societal scale this is a matter of serious business, it's also irritating. Depressing, too, though. 50% funny, 25% irritating, 25% depressing.
