Obviously we don't know how well Horford's time in Boston will go. But - other than our own free agents, have we ever signed a player of Horford's quality in the prime of his career? I can't think of another player.

We must always remember that Al Horford chose to come to our city, and respect him for that.

There aren't many contenders. Who is #2? Dana Barros? Rasheed Wallace?

Best news, never having to hear that FA will not sign with Boston.

A 35-year old Wilkins was probably better than either of those three.

Yeah, I'm glad to put that narrative to bed.

We were over the cap for two decades.  I always knew we could be a player in free agency.  Boston is a sports city.  The Patriots and Red Sox never have trouble.  People claimed this was different.  It's not.  We always had this potential.  Glad to finally kill the myth that the Celtics can't bring in big names.

I don't get all the "free agents won't come to Boston" perception.  When did we ever have room under the cap? This is the first time ever. Now everyone has cap room. This should be interesting.

I agree.  We have cap room now.  For a while there though there was this supposed trend in the nba because of lebron, wade and bosh teaming up in miami and nice weather because of lower taxes etc.   I think that stuff is sort of true.  Players like warm weather and all that.  But with the amount of money they are making, new england is an awesome place.  Any player that has played here will say that.

I've lived in MA my entire life and been all over the country.  I never want to leave here.  It's the best area in the country imo.

It has it's ups and downs as times change but I have no reason to leave.  It's the best place on earth.

If you want to educate yourself and have all the luxury too and variety of everything there is no better place.

I could do without Tanguay and felger and Mazz that's about it.  But it's still sort of entertaining.

Both will still find a way to put a negative spin on this.
