Orlando trying to copy our Boston team and go 10 deep with starter or near starter quality players.
I was thinking the exact same thing. That what Boston tries to do might become to new normal. Can't have too much depth. Especially if you don't have stars

Four-year, $72M on Bismack Biyombo's Magic agreement @APkrawczynski reported on. Masai Ujiri loved Biz, but didn't value him that way.

I know Biyombo is just 23, but what are they expecting him to do for that money?

Hopefully they're not expecting him to score more than 6 ppg because they'll be disappointed.

They must think they're going to play bully ball against all of these small ball teams because that is a lot of bigs that can't shoot on that roster.

Signing a perfectly good starting center for 18 million a year makes sense, but less so when you already have a perfectly good starting center for 11 million a year.

Great words from a great man

Seems like just yesterday people folks were responding to his Toronto contract by saying:

"Biyambo 2 year 6 million to the raptors hahahahahahaha"

Eja, was it you who said he'd never play in the NBA again?

I don't remember anyone saying this. I do remember many people saying that he'd get a mammoth contract and revert back to being mediocre, though.

My Cole Aldrich idea starting to look better ...

Interesting that there hasn't been a bite on Jared Sullinger yet.

I never forget.  That's a direct quote from Rondo2287 after Biyombo signed with the Raptors.

Good for Big Smack.  Solid defender/rebounder.   He would have been a nice fallback option if we missed out on the big names.

There is no idea out there that can make Cole Aldrich look good. Sorry.

Crazy how one playoff round can make you a 4-year, $72M player... Since money is being thrown around... can i get 1 million?? please.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Lol found Eja's quotes from last year

Quote
"My prediction....Biyombo doesn't play in the NBA next year. Most likely spots....CSKA Moscow, Turkey (Fenerbache), Zalgiris Kaunus, Lietuvos Rytas, or possibly Neptunas or Juventus, but then he'd have to deal with living in Utena, which if you've never been there.....it doesn't really scream prime free agent destination, but they finished third in the LKL last year, so he might not start for them, or if he did that would be great.  He is in no way, shape, or form good enough for Panathikos or Real Madrid"

The NBA is definitely a major level up from college. That's why Biyombo hardly plays. WCS is going to play in the NBA next year. Biyombo won't.

It just shows how much his value jumped in a year.  Folks were expecting him to play in Europe and now he's a 72 million dollar man.  Go figure.

I'm still feeling pretty comfortable with my Biyombo/WCS comparison.   As expected, they were about even last year.

Happy for Biyombo.  Funny he ends up in Orlando.  Biyombo's stats are about even with Ben Wallace just prior to leaving Orlando for Detroit.  Maybe the Magic are hoping to make up for their mistake.  Lol
