Do Cs even make playoffs next year....

Of the 15 teams in the east only the 76ers and Nets are clear lottery teams to me. The other 13 have either improved it maintained from last season at this point in FA. A lot still depends on what the Bulls and Heat do as well as the Cs front court rotation.

The situation may not be bad as it seems .  But not signing up grades while nearly everyone else does seems concerning .

The plus or minus impact may depend on the ability of the rookies from last year and this year to help the team.

I would trade rosters with most teams ( about 9 of them) bug due to our players playing harder and more often I bet we make the playoffs. I wish we would get in the lottery with this team as is, but that's my guess. A 7 or 8 seed and a first round exit again.

You nailed it. I think this team is fined or next year  even without a superstar. As of right now, they've only lost ET (who everyone on this forum hated anyway). I actually think we might be better off if we don't toss all the money around this year anyway.

I think DA is going big to start FA season.  This team is really young and will be good for a while especially if we can get the one big scoring star.  If not then a marginal FA signing to fill a hole is fine.

I'd rather miss the playoffs and add legit talent to this team for multiple championships. IMO this is the best time to get those young future star players we covet. And we won't have to draft players solely bc they are stashable and make moves that waste way too much value.

We have a team that is worth way more split up than it is together. IMO this is the best course of action for us because of the current market and trends in the League.

1 idea if we trade IT:Instead of signing a FA let's do what got us IT....Let's absorb Tyson Chandler's contract 4 either Brandon Knight(4 years) or Eric Bledsoe(3 years)and give them Amir's team option. Then we can trade that player for more value and keep Chandler on for the rookies or wait and come to a buy out later on.

Indiana is the only team I see that finished below Boston that has improved enough to finish ahead of Boston next year.

Atlanta have taken a step back after trading away Teague. Charlotte have not added anyone and have lost Big Al (not that he was important to last year's team). Miami are struggling to keep last year's team together. Detroit have been quiet but their young team should improve through player development.

The teams that finished outside the playoffs spots mostly look to be playing musical chairs. Swapping spots with one another. Maybe nab a late playoff seed. But nobody looks like improving enough to be a top 4 team in the East. Washington and Chicago take steps backwards. New York and Orlando steps forward. Probably Milwaukee too.

East looks like it will have a lot of 35-44 win type teams next year.

But not much competition above that level which is good for Boston. 

Edit: although maybe Boston falls back into that 42-45 win zone after losing Evan Turner. Still should be safe for a late playoff spot in that range though. I'd love to see Boston get a starting quality big man to push them back into that 46-49 win zone and above the chasing pack in the East.

But even if he doesn't the C's can still bring Sully, Zeller, Amir and Jerebko back and put out the same team as the year before but with a year of growth from the youth. So if the C's duplicate what they did last year or even lose 1-3 games less, which four teams under them that didn't make the playoffs are going to pass them to kick them out of the playoffs?

Indiana and Detroit. Yeah. Probably or maybe.

Charlotte isn't any better and might be worse so no. I don't see that Washington or Chicago have made their teams better, so no.

Which means two teams from Orlando, Milwaukee and New York, who have improved their teams, would need to get a lot better. Orlando would have to be 11 games better next year, Milwaukee 12 games better and NY 13 games better and that's assuming a Celtic win total of just 45 wins, which I think is extremely low even if they just bring back the same team with ET gone and replaced by Brown. And the youth(Smart, Rozier, Hunter, Mickey) are going to be another year better.

So yeah. If the C's get Horford I think they could be a 50+ win team. If they come back with the same team as described above, they are a 45-48 win club and probably in a 7th to 4th seed. Barring major injuries, I see the C's making the playoff and giving the Nets a pick somewhere between 17-22.

This. With a scarcity of quality free agents and most teams having plenty of  cap space, most of the East is going to be 'as you were'. I'd be disappointed not to get Horford but that doesn't mean the sky is falling if we don't get him.

Talent wise I'd say celts should NOT make the playoffs but because of the consistent effort of the players( not the coach!!!!!) I would bet we beat better teams to another 1st round exit .
