Incarceratedbob says horford news is about to break

He's saying he's heard Horford's name connected to the Celtics today.

That's not exactly news though. Everyone knows the meeting is going down tonight - if it hasn't already started.

Thing is he says he hears things will happen before they get reported.

Has this been reported, or are you making a prediction?

almost threw up my dinner reading that headline...if that happens it means the Hawks offered 5 year max and we cannot beat that. I am hoping for the best and the first domino to fall for us.

I am not sure if I even want Horford. His best days are behind him. He is slowing down. I am worried about how well guys like Horford age (6-9 undersized center). Horford is still very good right now and probably will be for another year or two. But beyond that?

I don't know.

Seems like his game could age well á la Pierce (not much reliance on athleticism), but I understand the concern. Still, he probably moves the needle some.

I think adding a guy like Horford gives the Celts legitimacy in a search for a true top option that they did not have before.

I have a feeling Horford will be well overpaid by the time he's on the third year of his next deal, but what's the point in having underpaid starters like IT, Bradley, and Crowder if you don't take advantage of the cap space to overpay for an All-Star caliber, two-way big man?

Whatever the C's offer Horford is what he would probably get from any other team at this point.  The big thing for Boston is that, unlike a lot of other teams, signing Horford for $100 million+ could also land you Kevin Durant.
