Celtics Have a Meeting with Dwight Howard

Ok, I bite, Howard will look good in our team, but at the $31 million he wants? Seriously, I can't stand the nerve of this man as if he didn't just leave teams on bad terms EVERY SINGLE FRICKIN TIME...

I'm not sure that he gets the full $31M max after his time at Houston, especially for any number of years.

same, I think with Cousins, Drummonds, and Jordan improving every year, I don't think anybody really sees him as the top center anymore, though I still have him as a top player in the league, I don't think he will command the type of max salary he used to when he was in ORL and LA. Him being in Houston really deflated his value in my honest opinion. Perhaps someone out there will overpay him

Hopefully Is not us, I can tell we all love him now on this board... but once teams start playing hack-a-Dwight,  oh, how the tune will change

I've been saying it even before the KD fantasies started popping up: I hope we sign Dwight. I think he'd be a great fit, in terms of talent AND attitude. Dwight strikes me as a guy who is a natural follower, and having great supportive leaders like IT4 and CBS will bring out the best in him.

I just saw a CSNNE video that says the Celtics greatest needs are defensive rebounding and 3P shooting.

Assuming they don't get Durant or trade for Butler, I'm guessing they sign Ryan Anderson for 3P and Howard, Horford or Whiteside for rebounding.

I was just think this, signing Howard and Anderson is something I could see Danny going all in on, even if it takes maxing Howard. We could legit be one scorer away from contention which could be obtained with a future brooklyn pick, along with adding these 2 guys to the roster.

Anderson can't defend at all, is going to get ridiculously overpaid (18M +/- are numbers I've heard), is injury prone (missed 97 games the last 3 years, and his shooting is really overrated (14-15 FG% 39.9/ 3PT% 34.0 ; 15-16 FG% 42.7/3PT% 36.6).

I trust that Danny is smart enough to stay away from Anderson. His contract is going to be atrocious.

It's ugly when it happens but I would think that coaches are starting to figure out that it doesn't work that well.  It disrupts your own offense, pushes you into the penalty and usually sucks the energy out of your own team, even if the guy misses the free throws.

possibly...but I have a feeling that injuries will strike at the wrong time with these 2. Howard has back issues and doesn't do back-to-back games anymore. Chandler is an injury just waiting to happen. I loved him 3 years ago, but now....his knees scare me and they should scare Danny.

A broken down clown who played 71 games, had the usual excellent defensive +/- and averaged 14/12/2 on 8 shots per game.  15/14 the last 2 years in the postseason (22 games). Howard is a lesser version of his *former* self, and I'd be awfully scared about invested $100M+ in his bad back, but the cat can still play. He'd still tear to pieces most rookie centers.

Here's hoping the Celtics somehow get a great deal on him chasing a ring.

Yeah, I think $$$ will be the hangup here but, in regards to on the court, he still is quite effective.  Not seeing the "broken down" part although that back still concerns me in regards to a long term deal.
