I'd love Gasol. I think his role on those championship Lakers teams was vastly underrated.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
FWIW, I met Isaiah Thomas at an autograph signing today.  I asked if there were any players other than the ones we keep hearing about (Durant and Horford) that he'd like to see the team sign.  He said, "anybody", but then after thinking about it for a second he mentioned Pau Gasol.

Gasol can still play.  He'd make sense if we are looking for a short term upgrade.

Lucky you!

Same here.

I always talk to my Lakers friend, and you would be surprised at how they firmly believed Kobe was the one leading the charge. Without Pau or Bynum, I don't think the Lakers would've won '09-'10.

Was the real MVP of the '10 Finals (ugh....).

What was heartbreaking more? The comeback from the Lakers, or the injuries to our players?

2nd half of Game 7.  Bar none.

I'm with others above. Even at his age, he immediately provides an upgrade in a number of areas. He's not the player he was five years ago, but he's still very good.

I'll add that I think he could be a positive presence for all of our young guys, esp. someone like Zizic. He seems to take care of himself, and he plays the right way.

I agree that he was the real Finals MVP that year. All those dang rebounds he collected.

But does anyone else remember the up-and-down violation on him that the refs missed? It was in the fourth quarter.

Also he "blocked" KGs arm on a key play in the fourth as well.

Why bother?  Just bring over Zizic.  Let's move on, people.

And if I'm remembering correctly, I think Gasol made a shot on that up-and-down no-call, right? So not only should that have been Celtics ball, but 2 fewer points for L.A.
