Since nothing notable occurred yesterday, what moves can Boston reasonably make going forward to become a contender in the East? Any scenarios where Butler, Middleton or Noel can be had for Boston's current stable of players?

I think we should be clear that the Celtics could just sit on their hands the rest of the summer and potentially end up No. 2 in the East next year. That's why I don't get the kind of desperation being projected on them from outside. There are certainly scenarios where Middleton and Noel could be acquired for Boston's current players/picks. The question, as always, is whether those deals would be such overpays as to make the Celtics worse instead of better.
