Jackson is the 2nd best pg of the draft. 2nd or 3rd and dropped to us mid 2nd round. Absolute gift

Jackson even though is 6'1 and has a modest 6'5 wingspan (per Dannys standard) is explosive and has solid all around skills for a pg. He is not a natural pg but has better pg skills/court awareness than Rozier.   Good shooter . Again better than Rozier.   It will be a competitive summer between rozier and jackson.

Bentil is a tweener in a good way on the offensive end. Fantastic shooting stroke. Chiseled and can finish through contact.   But tweener not in a good way on the defensive end for now.  His reaction is not quick  to guard sfs  and a little undersized to handle PF/C.   Reading he looked good though as a defender at the competitive workouts.

I think both have a good chance to make the roster for next season.  As long as they perform during SL play.

Jackson will either be playing overseas, or taking Rozier's role with Rozier getting traded in a minor deal (Chicago or Philly, probably).  Summer League and training camp should be great competition between the two
I'm bitter.

Yes.

Jackson can get off the ground quickly and dunk the ball with authority.  Very very good ball handling skills.  Again better than Rozier.  Rozier has longer arms but he could be in trouble vs jackson.   Rozier right now is more athlete than a basketball player.   Concern about jackson was his play dropped 2nd half last season. But it could of been due to a hamstring injury/recovery.   He might of tried to play through it (draft year), instead of recovering properly.

It's sad when we are getting excited about 2nd round picks. I hope they both become superstars but I doubt it.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

The thing is both are considered 15-25 talents

If we needed a point guard I would've considered Jackson at #16. That's how good a value that is. I think they just had to take him at that point.

I know less about Bentil.

I guess the rationale for picking Brown at the 3 is the potential for being a superstar.

I'm excited about Jackson too. He's super athletic and he can shoot the 3 ball. That's a rare combo in an NBA PG. Skills-wise I view him as more of a SG, but he could pair well with a big PG who guards SG's like Smart.

Yup. He has better basketball skills than either rozier or smart. Skills plus explosiveness that should translate at the nba level. While rozier is more of an athlete with long arms and smart is a bulldog

I'm glad I looked to see if anyone posted about this, also glad others are as excited as I am.

I LOVE Bentil, huge steal for us at #52. He was one of my draft binkys  8)

I never imagined drafting Jackson because I figured he'd go between #12 and #22. To get this kid at #45 is absolutely insane. I'd be packaging Rozier, Young, Hunter and picks asap to clear room for this kid and consolidate assets. Philly still needs a pg (cough, cough). Bonus: he's from ND, my grandfather is a ND hall of famer, thus I'm a big ND fan. Very very excited  ;D

Here's some info and a cool article on Jackson for anyone who isn't familiar with him: http://www.und.com/dj/

I do seem to recall Jackson was talked about as a mid 1st round pick for a long while, so I'm curious what caused him to drop so much.

Bentil seems like a guy who will be putting up 20 a game in the D-League or overseas very soon.  Less talented players need to be able to excel in a limited role at the NBA level.  The guys who only know how to score end up playing scoring roles in lesser leagues.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Don't set your hopes too high.  Second rounders are mostly throw away picks.  Unless they really impress, these guys will be in Europe before you know it.  Simply do not have the room.

thanks triboy and a tp for the thread.

i honestly did not know squat about either player, so it is good to learn more about then.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
