Turner leaves. Smart is 6th man. Jaylen plays 15-20mpg.

This is the right answer, I think. Smart is taking over the second unit offense and Brown will take over Smart's role.  It makes sense to hope Brown follows Smart's trajectory and now we just bank more on Marcus continuing to develop until he takes over Bradley or ITs starter job.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

Draft was Turrible .

Could have had Oakfor and now,we are stuck with fat Azz Sully and bone head ET for another year . And sissy KO .

Only poor old worn out Amir to hold the back line and a over worked 5 8 guard.

Did Ainge fall and hit his head ?

So we saved the all these picks to,toss them away on prayers

Either way it's just so impactful

Dude your melt down is worse than most post draft over reacting blowups.
Eja 'the grilled cheese' 117.

I know. Eja needs to make himself a bath, drink some chamomile tea, or go exercise, then come back and realize that he's overreacting. Celtics picked up many different interesting players last night. They did well, in my opinion. I especially liked the 2nd round trade (for 2019 first rounder), as well as the late D. Jax and Bentil picks. If they make the team, those were quality picks. I wouldn't be surprised if either Bentil/Yabu become something that resembles Draymond Green (poor version).

Jaylen Brown, in my opinion, has more upside than Ingram, unless the latter can put on some serious weight. It sounds like Butler was too expensive, so why not pick the best two-way wing that resembles him for way cheaper. Ainge continues to fill his arsenal of assets and is waiting for the right move. In the meantime, we'll be happy watching them win another 40-something games while young guys improve.

To the haters- relax. This is supposed to be fun. If it's not for you, go watch something else.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I really like ET, but I honestly don't see how he stays on this team with so many prospects screaming for time.

His removal frees up time for Brown, Young, Rozier and even Mickey

Frees up time for Young? Now that is REALLY a step backward. Young does nothing good in the NBA.

Being the #3 pick i could see the argument for starting him but he's not better than Crowder at this time.

So I think drafting Jaylen means we let Turner walk and let Brown come in with Smart off the bench.

I like Turner but must say this is way better for Brown's development..may cost us a few wins but meh..
Thoughts?
Great point.  I like Turner too, but he tends to be a black hole with the ball.  He wants to get his shots.  Yes he made some big shots for this team last season, but he would hinder Brown's development.

Even after drafting 8 or so players after him, Young is still the second youngest player on the team that sorely needs his skill. I'm hoping for the Danny Green trajectory (who was waived by two teams, played overseas, signed to D-League and then became a starter on a multiple championship winning team)... optimistic but not impossible.

I think Turner was gone no matter what, but yeah now he's definitely not coming back.

I just really haven't seen his "skill". Let's face it. He is a bust. We need to move on from him and somehow get rid of him for a rack of balls or something.

He's the 3rd pick in the draft and we are talking about bringing him off the bench. He's the 3rd pick in the draft!!!!

It's sad. He has to start for better or worse.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Brown is going to be a very young rookie compared to other rookies.  More than likely he won't be as good as Turner next year.  I say have him start off by taking JJ's minutes and go from there.  If by mid season all 3 of Turner, Crowder, and Brown are playing very well maybe make a decision then who to trade. That's if we don't sign Durant, and Turner probably won't be back.  :P

well stated on all counts so a valuable tp to you sir.

the draft was not exciting in the hoped for sense of providing trades that matched posters' expectations and hopes. but part of that falls on us, yes? this board was bubbling with trades that simply were fantasy material. since our fantasies did not appear, we blame ainge.

unfair and unrealistic.

the two big trades (philly/chicago) simply made less sense then not making them.

as for the draft, i would have preferred bender, but brown is clearly one of, if not the, most athletic player in the draft, has a bulldog mentality, and can provide another scoring dimenstion at sf. let's see how his outside shooting shapes up over the next 2-3 years as he develops.

turner, he was gone before the draft so i think he is still gone after picking up brown.

final point, we are here for fun. the wailing and anguish spewed forth over this draft is over the top folks.

this place offers a temporary escape from an often depressing reality. let's not make this board a crappy reality as well.

Why? We aren't a normal lottery putrid basketball team.  He doesn't need to start for better or worse.  Bender, Dunn and other lottery picks might not start either.

not sure why CBS should start a player who may not be the best player? simply because of location in the draft?

i expect CBS to put the best team out there to start games.
