Stop Giving Danny Ainge a Pass

2008 is long gone.  I know that seem like yesterday to most but that was 10 years ago!  Stop giving Ainge a pass.  It's time to start calling him out on his ridiculous decisions.  I appreciate everything he has done for the franchize but enough is enough.  Stop doing it.  It seems people don't understand the magnitude of tonight's failure but we'd see it soon.  Another 1st round bounce and moral victories coming up.

Ainge usually does a decent job, I think, of getting average to above average assets at his draft position.

My biggest criticism of him right now is that over the past two years he's shown little ability to play the market by trading down.   Rozier was projected as a late 1st and Ainge reached for him at #16.  Couldn't he have traded down and grabbed a piece?   Brown was projected a couple spots later, but Ainge just grabbed him and moved on.   The dude we took at #16 this year was projected in the 2nd round...

But usually everyone falls in love with these guys regardless so I'm not totally giving up hope.

I agree.  But I can't say I'm even remotely excited about a kid who averaged 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2 assists, 0.8 steals with 43%/29%/65% shooting. 

If you're telling me this kid has a brighter future than Jahlil Okafor or Nerlens Noel, so be it.  Maybe?

The problem is you are basing this off mock drafts or web site rankings.  Talk was last year that other teams were high on Rozier and would have taken him just after the Celtics pick.  The Cavs and Bulls apparently liked him as much as Ainge.  This year, 7 out of the top 21 picks via Draft Express Rankings were not taken in the top 21 (via kozlodoev in the draft thread).  So I just think this is based on not that much actual information.  We don't know where very team has every player ranked.

This.  The draft always brings out a bunch of fairweather Celtics fans on CB that just want to pout about everything.  If you read any article that lists top GM's/front offices in the NBA, Danny Ainge and Co. are always top 5.  These guys run an incredible ship.

He only won us a title and had us contending for 5 years, then fleeced brk for these high lottery picks. But yea he is a horrible gm. The kid hasn't played a summer league game, but is already a dud?
