I don't mind it at all (especially as a Cal alum  ;)).  I firmly believe DA considers Brown the best player.  And it's nice not to have another small guard.

So it works.

Ditto. As a Cal alum I can't complain.
Celtics fan for life.

I always said when I left the Celtics, I could not go to heaven, because that would
be a step down. I am pure 100 percent Celtic. I think if you slashed my wrists, my
blood would’ve been green.  -  Bill "Greatest of All Time" Russell

It means the shooting is not getting any better anytime soon, folks.

Pretty much hoping another guy develops a jumper... but Brown does have upside

It means we wasted the #3 pick on a backup.  It means we still don't have any good big men.  It means we still suck at rebounding.  It means no quality free agents will sign here.  It means our roster is still redundant with guards.  Ainge really blew this one.

What I don't get is, they could have traded down and still got him. Missed opportunity

(1) You have no idea whether that's the case or not. I doubt Danny wanted to take that risk.
(2) If you think you have a special talent, you grab him when you get the chance.

Your right, I don't know if that was the case, but I suspect Danny was competing against himself for Brown... In the top five.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Brown has got All Star potential.
We finally have a true athlete that plays both ends and has shown VERY good progress on his jumpshot in little time.

This kid can quite easily become an athletic version of Jae Crowder and play the SG,SF and small ball PF with his size/stength/hops.

He's 19 years old and ticks every category as a huge upside pick.
IQ
Athleticism
Attitude
Hustle
Physicality
Size/body

Good solid pick.
Remember he hit 70 something threes during his second workout the other day too.

No problems with this pick from me.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

It means Ainge has a huge pair, basically telling the Sixers and everyone else where to stick it.

Brown is a great pick.  Celtics can play bullyball on the wing.

Will say this, you can imagine some fun small ball combos with Bradley, Smart, Brown, Crowder.

We just need that top tier defensive big man to fill it out.
