It's hard to get too mad about BKN getting squat for Thad, but I would have paid #16 in a heartbeat. Guess maybe they don't like trading with us any more.

If we'd offered 16 hey would have taken it. Which suggests we didn't offer it. I'd say that's the right decision. Danny won't commit to salary unless it changes the game at this point. No rush to do anything

We could have killed 2 birds with 1 stone. Improve the team (let's be honest, we aren't gonna get any big FA/trades), and make the nets worse.

If Danny is trying to maintain flexibility, he's doing the wrong thing here. We aren't going to get anyone great in trades or FA.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

Very solid player for a mid-late first. Good trade for Indy.

I have to like what that means for our firsts, too.

Acquiring Thad Young makes the Teague trade look dumber.  They could have used Hill's defense and Young would have helped with a lot of the offensive problems.

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah

That was seriously the best deal Brooklyn could get for Young? So Teague got the Hawks the 12th pick and Young got the Nets the 20th pick. Anyone else think we could get Noel for the 16th pick?

Honestly though, I'm happy for Thad Young of all people. He's finally going to play for a good team on paper.

So what is the motivation for Brooklyn here?  Clear up cap space to make a run in free agency?  Will this end up working against our draft pick?

But this is what Danny does.  Overvalues our assets to the point that we never use them and some other team benefits from him with his thumb in his ass.  All this posturing is Danny feeding his own ego and he has yet to do anything with all these assets he's accrued to help better the team.

I've been a hardcore Danny supporter, but I have to agree with you. This move was RIGHT THERE, take it!
If he's waiting for Jimmy, he will be waiting for awhile.

Young is a good player but that is fair value for him.  Good trade by both teams.

So BKN is now basically BLopez and a dozen oompa-loompas?

I really hope that any free agents care enough about winning to turn down Brooklyn's offers.

Any chance that this deal is one of the steps toward selling the team?

The Nets already had a trash roster.  Turning a 21 win team into a 17 win team might do  little to improve the pick going to the Celtics while a draft pick can be a wildcard that helps turn the team into a 30 win team.

Maybe this clears up playing time in the front court so they can overpay a restricted free agent like Sullinger.

Brooklyn better keep their greasy paws off of Thon Maker.

They can take whoever they want with the gift this trade gives us and our future picks.
