And then still have enough money to sign a marquee free agent or two solid players in the off season. Also hope to re-sign Turner and keep Jerebko.

How would you guys feel about this? Or would you rather draft someone at #3 and/or #16?

I would also see if Philly could give us #24 or #26 in the deal as well. Maybe add Hunter to the deal to make it work.

Makes us immediately better than we are now.

Before free agency starts.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Terrible, because we end up with Okafor who is a dinosaur who plays no defense.

I also view them as valuable trade chips in the future you could potentially package with future picks for a legit star/superstar type player.

But for now yes, improves us a lot but obviously not to the point we are better than the Cavs.

Yes, we should hold out for someone who shoots like Curry, plays defense like Kawhi Leonard, and is a big... ... oh, wait.  ;D

I still like Noel over Okafor

We're not getting Middleton plus Okafor.  If there is a trade, Philly is getting the #3 plus something else from the Celts for just Okafor.

He's surrounded by guys who hustle and play defense. His interior scoring is vital. Big need for us.

No. It's been reported already that the #3 for Okafor is on the table right now. Take this for what you will.

Yeah on Liberty Ballers they say that the "3 for Okafor" offer is the "best" one we've received so far for #3

There is no way that a frontcourt of Okafor and Thad Young is going to be attractive to the free agent market in 2017.

I can be onboard with that, if we're not thinking about signing superstars like the Durants, or Westbrook and purely building through drafts and going young, this is something I kinda like

no where near ready to contend but MAYBE, if Okafor matures, with better management and coaching staff vs 76ers, Okafor might grow better

I've seen so many contradicting rumors, I don't know what to believe about this situation.
Some say Philly has offered Noel or Okafor for Dunn, some say Ainge is holding out for Noel.
Some say Philly wants a vet PG. Some say Danny wants Dunn to keep.

On paper, if the Celtics get either Okafor or Noel without giving up anything but the #3, they will automatically be stronger. Because their front court at the 4-5 sucks. It is way behind their backcourt in quality. If they want to get better, they will have to close that gap.

Drafting a Dunn or Brown and keeping them is more of a gamble, in my view. They are less known quantities, and there will be PT issues. Now maybe Danny has a trade up his sleeve, or maybe he knows which FAs he can get. He hasn't revealed his cards.

We'll just have to sit and be patient, and see what the method is to his madness.
