Bleacher Report: Celtics to take Kris Dunn

I think he's the best player in the draft but we have a pg. Not that IT and Dunn wouldn't work.  Dunn has good size to guard shooting guards. IT thrived at times off the ball last season so it could definitely work

It's not like Rozier can't grow from another year in the DL. Plus between Avery, Marcus, and Dunn's injury issues this gives us decent depth. Marcus can probably play some three if needs be.

Pretty much.  There aren't enough good post players these days, nor are post plays typically called for guards and SFs in games.  Smart at the 3 works just fine.

That defensive speed 1-4 is scary and would cause most teams all kinds of problems.  Toss Rozier in there too, who is no defensive slouch himself.

I'm fine with taking Dunn at #3 and hanging on to him for the long haul.

The only logical reason to draft Dunn would be to trade him?  We have no use or room for him on the roster.  If we are going to keep him.  Who do we trade?

According to New England Patriots Draft's Mike Loyko, ESPN's Andy Katz reported that the Providence Friars point guard "seems to be the favorite" to fly off the board when the Celtics are on the clock at No. 3.

Am I missing something?  Doesn't look like a done deal to me.

Curious: how would you feel if Dunn was indeed the pick?

I'd love it, but just because Danny takes him (if he does) doesn't mean that he'll keep him, and he probably won't . It would be really cool to see a guy from New England on the Celtics, though .

You are not missing anything.  As usual there are tons of rumors flying around and as usual we will probably be surprised by reality at the end.

Just give him Turner's minutes as ballhandler. Dunn has a bigger wingspan and is a better defender. Only reason we wouldn't have room to play him, is if we resign Turner or must give more minutes to Rozier.

My take: Danny is trying to trade back in the draft, and get a pick #4-8 plus another (or future) first. Danny is all about stockpiling until the right opportunity presents itself.

If anyone read the Celticsblog article on Dunn, you also read about the crazy assist numbers for IT/Evan Turner.

Dunn is 3rd on my list but I can completely see a place for him on our team, especially if we let Evan Turner walk.  The unfortunate truth is that we have two guys on current roster who feel comfortable bringing the ball up the court and organizing the offense.  Dunn certainly would give us a little more versatility.

I saw him 3 times last year in Providence. Other than funky shooting mechanics, he's a talented PG. Very quick, great body, can be a lock down defender, solid passer. He takes chances, sometimes that don't quite workout. If he ever gets more consistent with his shot, he could be a future all star. He will take the big shot though. He's not timid.

There is no negative to this pick, several teams are seriously considering drafting him. Something we can't say about the remaining players at number 3. it's a nice card to have in your hand.

i wonder which Celtic guard is now trade bait.

I honestly can't believe how shortsighted some of you guys are being. 

Many posters here act like we have Bradley and IT locked up for the next 5 years.  We don't.

Do you guys actually think we are going to resign IT when his contract is up? HAHAHAHAHA.... NO way does Danny resign IT at 20 mil a year, NO WAY.

We need PG depth.  We currently have ONE POINT GUARD.  Ya'll think Rozier is ready to play 15-20 minutes a night? Not even close to ready.

We need to think for the future..... in 2 years, IT and Bradley are GONE, and there is an incredibly slim chance that Danny will pay to extend them. (Actually, zero chance he pays for IT, slim one he pays for Bradley, really slim)
