I feel like Kris Dunn might end up being one of the top 2 players of this draft down the line, he has legit potential. However we have an all-star point guard on the roster already with several more young guards.

so the question is this, is Dunn worth the risk? Will he be able to co-exist with IT? Will Dunn be able to develop playing alongside IT until Thomas declines or is traded in the future? Will he turn out to be a very good asset playing in a loaded guard spot? How about IT, will it affect him if Ainge drafted Dunn? We all know IT felt slighted by the people saying Dunn will be our best PG if we drafted him? Will Danny find takers for Thomas?

In the prediction thread, I said that Dunn would be drafted by the Celtics...but I also envision him being traded shortly thereafter.

This anticipation is a lot more fun than watching the Warriors choke away the series! :)

I would say so.  Take Dunn at 3, trade IT and KO for 6, and use it on Poeltl.  Then trade Smart and Young for 24 and 26.

You draft BPA regardless of position when you don't have any stars.  Dunn to me has the 2nd highest potential in this draft.

Yes.

I might say no if Dunn was a 6'1" pass-first PG who can't score, but he's not.  He's a 6'4" 220 pound athletic beast who can score in a variety of ways, rebounds at a high level, and can defend multiple positions.

Nothing at all stopping us from putting him at the SG spot alongside Thomas.

So yeah, if he's the BPA you take him.

Celts should both draft and keep Dunn -- forget 76ers' bigs. Try to trade IT and Smart for young bigs with upside, approach '17 draft with the same mindset (via BKN), and begin a youth movement with our assets.

To be honest, I wouldn't hate the idea.

Dunn's the BPA at 3 and I see no reason why you couldn't pair him with any of our guards. You have 4 SGs now in AB Hunter, Turner, and Young. Only AB is a keeper as Turner's going to get more in FA than we'll want to pay. Dunn in, 2-3 guards out. Move Smart to backup SG leaving IT playing either position and Dunn and Rozier as pure PGs.

Not giving the 3rd pick up for Okafor and certainly not Noel. That being said, I think Brown or Bender is the pick. Two workouts apiece.

Those are all great deals...if you wanted to absolutely ruin the Celtics. Every one of those trades makes the team much, much worse and offer little to no room for improvement in the future.  Dunn is 22 and Poeltl is a pretty old fashioned big man.  24 and 26 are a total crap shoot.

Yes, but I would hope they have a Smart trade ready to go at that point.

..... Did you really just suggest trading IT, KO and Smart for picks 6, 24, 26....

What "young bigs with upside" are available via trade?  Why not just draft two young bigs at 3 & 16 and keep IT and Smart.  Dunn and Smart almost exactly the same age, so you're not beginning any youth movement there.
