I have hope for Hunter to be a solid rotational player. He doesn't looked nearly as lost as Young does when he's out there.

His shots haven't fallen, might be part of the aggressive work outs he's had to do to gain weight. But he takes good shot, makes good plays, and his D is way better than I had thought, not great one on one, but plays the passing lanes very well.

I could see him being a Turner type of guy, maybe not a lights out 3 pt shooter like some thought he would be, but a play maker scorer, but a better outside shooter than Turner.

Young is well young, but no one can take away his 19 games in Dleague in 14/15. He shot 44% and made basically 4 3's a game, from NBA range. That's why I am still looking at him and hopes he gets minutes this year bc that's how he will improve.

Honestly Im not willing to give up on either unless I need their roster spot for someone important. Lets not forget he looked pretty good against the warriors when he got time this year.

Disappointed in RJ or any of the Rookies for that matter after the first year.. especially coming from Ga State.. wow..
He got his first taste of big boy ball and Honestly he didn't play to bad, sure his shot wasnt falling but he needs time to adjust.  The Kid went  from being the man to being a 4-5 min guy off the bench (If he got to play at all).. I am sure it was overwhelming especially playing for a 48 win team who were playing with a chip on their shoulder... Gotta let these Kids Adjust.. Let them get an off Season under the belt.. Pick up weight, get stronger, Adjust for a 82 + game season..
He was a late round draft pick.. Give the Kid a chance..
Remember we were not a 15 win team coming into the draft. Had Hunter gone to a gutter team like the Lakers or Phi or the Suns - A team with no playoff aspiration he would definitely had better Stats..
These guys will be fine... The competition on a playoff team should make it harder for late round rookies to get playing time.

I've been a Young supporter, and I get he's young, and have been preaching that. But last summer he looked bad in Summer League, and Smart looked really good before he got hurt. I don't get why Young looks like a deer in the head lights when he's on the NBA floor, but puts up good numbers in Maine.

It's got to be in between the ears with him. Which worries me a little. I don't care what his numbers are at this point, what I don't like is how he moves on the floor. With Hunter, he flows, and yes some has to do with his age, but he gets it because he's put the time in to do so.

And if things go well over the next month there will be little time for Young to get minutes. And right now I could see Hunter having a better all around skill set that makes him more valuable to a contending team, or even a team going hard for the playoffs.

If someone is disappointed with young but happy with Smart all I can say is wow. Maybe draft position means nothing to that person.

Curious - is your only Concern with Smart is that he is not a 3pt Specialist? the superior Defense, the hard knows play, the clutch shots in big moments,  Nothing else he does means anything? Not an attack just genuinely curious.

Yes, I'm disappointed in Hunter.  His all around game is better than I anticipated but he's not going to have an NBA career shooting so poorly.  Not sure how he became known for his shooting prowess when it appears to be one of the worst aspects of his game.

He's a serious offensive liability. He makes Rondo look like Jordan at the current time.

Young shouldn't be in the same sentence with Smart. Are you kidding? Smart is already a superior defender and shoots 3's in the NBA better than Young. We need Young to perform in the NBA not in Maine. Maine means nothing. Seriously, Smart is in all ways better than Young.

Given the Celtic's current personnel situation and the large number of extra draft choices going forward, there is virtually no chance anyone on the roster is going to get significant minutes before they appear ready to produce within a few games. We will be shedding some decent players one way or another for the next couple of years.

I do think Hunter is someone who could conceivably find a way to earn the minutes. He came in primarily pegged as a shooter who would struggle to defend, and he ended up being a solid, possibly even plus defender. He showed a decent handle and good playmaking skills. He just didn't make shots. He might be able to fix that.

hmmm okay..  Serious liability seems a bit hard lol but inconsistent so far.. I think this will improve with him though - but all the other things he does to affect us being successful..  When he is on the floor We have been a better team..  But okay.. Just asking, thanks..

It's still more likely than not that he fails to carve out a place in the NBA, but he was the 28th pick. That's normal.

James Young was 17th.

The craziest thing about R.J. Hunter is that people will once again wax poetic about one of the draft picks in the summer league this summer and have total amnesia about what happened this past summer with Hunter (and even Rozier and Mickey).

Doesn't get on the ball time with Turner here. If Turner leaves I can see him becoming a bigger offensive threat.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.
