Great post! TP

Celticsblog seems to place a lot more critical eye on our players and assets than they do for the assets of other teams. In general c's blog is the most negative Celtics forum there is on the internet.

huh, i think RealGM is more negative. and theyre negative in a really mean way, like it actually hurts you the way they respond sometimes.
I stand corrected. I never go on RealGm, so you are probably right.

C Blog is absolutely more negative than reddit or celticsnuts which are the two other forums I frequent.

I like Reddit. It's pretty positive and funny
It's good but what I like about Celticsblog is that there is more consistent communication. The format doesn't lend itself to back and fourth as much imo.

Stevens is the main reason but it did help that Boston was in a division with the three worst teams in the East including the worst and 3rd worst team in the entire league.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Last season, we lost a bunch of games we could have won--because we wilted in the 4th...Didn't happen nearly as much this season.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

RealGM is too negative. Reddit is too positive. CB is just right.

I read these forums and our players are horrible and have zero value around the league even though most are signed to way below market value for multiple years.  Yet the entire front court of the worst team in NBA history the last three years is apparently worth half our team and the #3 pick in the draft.  It makes no sense.

Must be that we have a great coach, but that can't be it or free agents would want to come here.  But these forums say no good free agents ever want to come to Boston.

If you read these forums we would trade our entire team for 4 of the Milwakee Bucks starting five, but they only won 33 games and missed the playoffs.  We should have been the third seed.  Yet all their players are better than ours.  It is confounding and frankly embarrassing.

I agree, TP.

Personally, I think it's just a few select posters who need to twist the narrative to make some of the insane comments they made over the last 1-2 years look less insane (or to justify their opinions to themselves).

You know, the usual. "We should have tanked. Philly does everything right, their assets are so much better than ours" and so on and so forth.

EDIT: These people just tend to spout this stuff in every related and many unrelated threads, so it looks a lot more ever-present than it really is. As so often, if you only repeat something often enough, it becomes gospel, or "word on the street".

In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

We have a team full of almost all unselfish personalities who are Bulldogs. Stevens deserves credit. But the players are constantly short changed. It was THEIR effort the whole season that got us 48 wins. It's not a knock on Stevens, but it's ridiculous that " Brad Stevens is our best asset". Danny ainge is. He gets these types of guys that win REGULAR season games. We've been cruddy in the playoffs because talent wins out.

I believe Thomas, Bradley, smart, Amir, jerebko, crowder. All these guys would give just as much effort regardless of their coach. Brad may be a good x and o's guy. I don't know the stats like are we at the top after timeouts in execution? Things like that? I don't know.

yeah thats true. i discuss here much more than over there. the upvotes system hides other points of view.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

We have three players on the Celtics that set the tone for the entire team. All three use defense, and grit as their calling card. They defend like pit-bulls. All three have a "never give in" type of attitude.

One has been chosen first team all NBA on defense, the other, will certainly someday receive the same accolade as he further develops, (and if he doesn't get traded) the last we received in a trade as a throw-in. The day the trade went down, I went on the forum of the team that traded him to check out how they felt about the trade. They were truly, to a man, bummed because they lost him. They knew something we were going to find out.

This team never went into a rebuilding phase, after the Rondo trade, instead they gave us a fun season.
Next we got Isaiah Thomas, just the spark plug we needed at the time.

This team is loaded with underdog players, guys that received no respect from the league. IT, chosen last in his draft year, Crowder low 2nd round pick, Evans literally given away from the Pacers, and to some degree even Bradley.

Are they "stars"...no. We obviously don't have the horses to seriously contend for an NBA championship. But I can see why we won 48 games. Effort..
