its a tough time for fans that have built up bonds with last seasons players-
there was such aura of defencive intensity and growth by players
the amount of rumors with draft, trades and free agency will make last season just a fond memory
i think san antonio is the ideal-it not just winning it how you win

I think you are correct in theory, but Danny has a knack for doing the right thing for outgoing players and I can't think of many mistakes he has made recently in letting good players go for nothing.

I became attached to Phil Pressey.

We both became attached to Datome.

Heck, I even became attached to Kris Humphries and Gerald Wallace.

The only times I started thinking the way you are is when Pitino gutted the team and didn't keep Fox and Wesley, or when Danny gutted it a bit from time to time. The Green-Perk debate is well in the past, but all we needed was a backup for Pierce not some big, risky move. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I agree with the idea that it's not just about winning, but how it is accomplished. Danny basically bought title #17 in return for a small window. What if there was no stupid Russian owner in Brooklyn? Danny might have already retired or been fired. Life can be funny like that.

If I was the GM, I'd be very wary of making big trades. I would go with the continued formula of turning us into a San Antonio type franchise with a long, steady strategy. That will help us eventually get a good free agent who one needn't gut the team to acquire.

Keep Turner, Crowder, and Bradley for example. Avery shows that players drafted by the C's can emerge and stay. Turner and Crowder show that the Celtics are a great opportunity for good players in bad situations.

I wouldn't mind resigning Zeller, but he has turned himself into a Phil Pressey at the end of a roster. I feel no attachment to him. It's a shame about Sully. So many years were put into his development all for nought. Sullinger sets a bad example and needs to go.

Jerebko certainly picked up the pace by the end of the year. I feel a bit of an attachment to him. He's an energy guy.

I am attached to the uniform, and that gold trophy with the basketball.

I don't get attached to individuals wearing it - especially individuals who aren't going to contribute to that gold trophy.

As Mike Ditka told his first Bears team, "The good news is we are going to win a championship. The bad news is most of you won't be here when we do."
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

I agree with Coach Bo that it's more about the jersey than whomever is currently on the team. Not one player has yet to emerge as Paul Pierce did where we say if that player gets moved, the old era is officially over. Maybe Isaiah is currently that player if we were left with no point guard.

Maybe Avery, Crowder, and Marcus are soon to be those kinds of players. I am fearful of Danny unloading some of these guys before their last chapters have been written.

Who's to say Avery doesn't get even better? Who wants to watch him helping a different team win it all?

Guys like Turner and Olynyk are bigger question marks than the ones I mentioned above, but even they could make major leaps and then the rest of league will be scratching their heads wondering how they became so good.

The key for current stability has to be Stevens and Danny. We are on a pace to become the kind of perennial power house San Antonio has been. That's why I hope Danny doesn't try to do this time what brought us KG and Ray. Sure, winning a title is everything and no one knew KG would break down.

I'd rather be bored with endless threads on Celtics Blog about running a treadmill than for Danny to go for fool's gold. That to me would be Kevin Love or perhaps even Okafor. A blockbuster for Cousins might go against my philosophy of it better be a great trade if you're going to gut the team's core.

Sometimes going all in works. It did in 2008. But in addition to grabbing KG and Ray, Danny put on an amazing GM performance in filling out that roster. Getting PJ Brown was the icing on the cake. He saved us in a playoff game.

But that truly lasted only one year with the rest ending up as the fool's gold.

I did like the 2009 team without KG. I'm thinking about Big Baby and when he ran over that little kid.

It was fun, but I suppose Golden State had fun with their 73 wins until they didn't.

There are no guarantees whatever a GM does, but a little patience might end up winning us more titles than going for Wyc styled fireworks.

How could you watch the team this year and not love the players?  I've never seen a scrappier bunch of guys who never gave up in a game.  We went toe to toe with Golden State twice, beating them once, and causing them to lose their other game on the second night of a back to back after we pushed them into overtime.  They were routinely blowing teams out and we hung right in there with them both games.

This team fought harder than any team I can remember so I'm not going to say I'm not attached to the players who made almost every game enjoyable to watch.  The thing about this team is that the love is spread out to about 10-12 guys throughout the year so I'm not overly attached to any single guy.

I loved the guys we had, but I also realize that, to get better, not all of them can return. A few seasons ago, I was sad because we were trading Jordan Crawford. I liked him as a player and I also felt that losing him would be bad for the team. I felt the same way about Hump, Bass, etc. "How can someone else come in and replace what they do?" Thats how I feel about guys like Jerebko, Turner (especially Turner), Amir, Kelly, etc. "How are we gonna find someone else who can do this?" But at the end of the day, Danny knows best. Since losing Crawford, Hump, Bass, we've only gotten better and replaced them with better guys. I trust that Danny will do the same this season. It'll hurt at first, but hopefully it leads to a better team.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about
