Hot takes! Get ya hot takes here!

The 2015-2016 season is over, and the draft and free agency are around the corner.

Before the off-season gets underway, and with the playoffs barely in the rear view mirror, now is the time to register your hot take predictions for the draft, the off-season, and next season.

Here's mine:

The Cavs will win 65+ games next season and the Warriors will not make it back to the Finals.

Now your turn.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Me thinky that you're jumping on the Cleveland bandwagon a little too hard after last night.  ;) They'll never win 65+ games. They've had that same capability the last two years and didn't, why would they now after a very up and down emotional year, Lebron a year older (possibly even leaving), and a most likely improved Eastern Conference?

My bold prediction - James goes to LAC with Paul by making a sign-and-trade with Griffin to the Cavs. Love ends up coming to Boston in a separate deal.

We also trade for Butler on draft night.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Kevin Love is traded for better fitting pieces, lower "name" guys.

Pelicans do well in free agency and draft and overachieve next year 50+ wins.

Lebron wins MVP next year, but never wins another title.

Celtics win 50+ games with a roster that is only slightly improved on paper. Overachieve and win championship in 2017 (due in part to overachieving/coaching and part to injuries to other teams). Also get first pick in the draft.

Golden State loses in conference finals.

I think the Cavs will trade Love for a couple wing pieces eg Gay and Casspi or Gallo and Barton.

Im not a Cavs fan suddenly. I don't like the Cavs very much. I don't like the way they play at their best. I much prefer the Warriors or Spurs as champions.

But the Cavs are at the top of the league now, and I think they figured out some things in this Finals series that should carry over into next season.

I'd say the only way they wouldn't win a ton of games next year is if Kyrie gets injured, which is always a possibility.

Lebron James is smart, and he knows that championships are the only thing that matters. It doesn't matter to him to win 65+ games, because A) he prioritizes rest over positioning and B) he knows he can win on the road if need be, e.g. last night. Lebron James has A TON of mileage on his body, and he knows that he'll have to cruise through the long season from now on to stay fresh for the playoffs.

Not happening. I don't see where people think Durant would do something like that. He's not really like the Lebron's of the league.

Anyways, if he was going to sacrifice his reputation and legacy, it'd be to go to a place like Golden State that is already set up where he could just be plugged in. The Lakers don't have the supporting cast right now to win a championship next year, no matter how much cap space they have.

LeBron bought a lesser CLE team to 66 wins the year we bounced them in 2010, I think that is a possibility. I think LeBron stays, and I agree with the OP, GSW don't make it back to Finals. I think GSW's championship lies entirely on this years free agency, let's see who they let go, or trade to improve their roster. If they keep it intact, I don't see why they wouldn't at least make conference finals or finals

It will be good for NBA basketball if both teams make it to the Finals again, establish somewhat of a rivalry.

Absolutely, Bron will cruise through the regular season.

But as long as he stays healthy, I think Kyrie will be better, and I think the Cavs will be more dangerous if they trade Love for a couple wings and play all season with their primary lineups configured more like the one that blew open the Finals for them (ie Jefferson - Bron - Thompson frontcourt).

My 65 win prediction is based on the idea that the Cavs will be a few steps ahead of every eastern conference opponent, as usual, and they will be more dangerous against the better Western Conference teams. I think that'll be true even if Bron plays at 75% during the regular season.

Love is not traded.  James re-signs for a full 5 year max.  Cavs are the 1 seed in the East but win in the same general upper 50's range.  Cavs are in the finals again and again win the title.

Celtics trade the 3rd pick for Jahill Okafor on draft night (when Simmons and Ingram go 1/2).  Celtics end up improved, winning the Atlantic (after DeRozan leaves the Raptors) and end up as the 3rd seed. Celtics win two playoff series, but end up losing to the Cavs in the ECF.

Durant re-signs for 1 year.  OKC wins 60 games, but is the 2 seed to the Warriors.  Thunder beat Warriors in 6 in the WCF, but lose the finals to the Cavs.

The Curry hype train dies down a bit and other teams start following the Cavs model of a bit more physical and aggressive play with him.  Warriors still win 60+ games and are the 1 seed in the West, but lose the WCF to the Thunder.

Duncan and Ginobili retire and the Spurs despite talent don't cope as well as expected and end up only in the 50 win range.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I think the Cavs will take a step back because all their role players come into the season with a championship hangover. This will cause the Cavs to cede the top seed in the east to another team.

The Nets are a bottom 3 team.

A team other than the Warriors will get the number 1 seed in the west, but the Warriors will still win the title.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I don't the cave win 65 wins next year

Cousins is traded to Boston, Durant re-signs in OKC, the Spurs sign Mike Conley and the Warriors lose to the Spurs in the playoffs.

Lebron feels like he has fulfilled his promise and leaves. He goes to LA to join Chris Paul. Clippers get word that Lebron wants to come and trade Griffin to the C's.
