He is a first-team all-nba Defender. He has a consistent 3-point shot. He is a great team player. if we plan on winning a title in the next three years, Bradley could be a big part of that. He is probably the best defender in the league point guards

This is what I'm trying to tell to the people. He may not be a star but he is a valuable piece on a championship team. It's clearly evident that you need an All-Defensive team player on your team to win it all. Lebron and Kobe didn't really need it since they are very good defenders themselves. But for guys like Dirk and Curry, you will need elite defenders to mask their deficiencies.

Amen! The one position we have locked down in the "new" NBA. All the trade ideas on this site involving AB drive me insane.

AB eats guards for breakfast and is more than capable of holding his own on the offense.

Not if Bradley can land us Jimmy Butler.

A team with Butler, Smart and Crowder is plenty of perimeter D to throw at those guys.

I don't think we'd ever give up 2 of our key 3 perimeter defenders for Butler.
It would be 1 or 2 Brooklyn picks and most dispensable one of Crowder, Smart and Bradley. If Butler comes in it makes Bradley a bit redundant.

I believe they are team players and will believe in team concept. Those guys will just do fine with the reduced minutes as long as they can win games with it. Look at Tony Allen competing minutes with James Posey, Eddie House and Sam Cassell for minutes. Butler might need more playing time so he can have a consistent rhythm, but defensive specialist doesn't really need to get warm up, unlike shooting and scoring.

Championships are about D. And injury luck. And suspension luck.  :laugh:

Ainge was watching. If he doesn't trade that #3, he'll go with Bender or Brown--for D.

And he'll keep that backcourt D intact. He must improve the D upfront.

Yes they will certainly believe in the team concept but Chicago is going to want one of Smart or Bradley coming back to them, so I think Bradley goes if Butler is coming in.
Butler is significant upgrade on offense over Bradley and is also a top 10 defender.

I think what the OP is getting at is that as great as Marcus Smart is, he doesn't have the kind of quickness that Bradley has when defending guys like Curry, Irving, Lillard, et al. I love Smart but I would worry about who is going to be guarding big scoring PG's on this roster if Bradley is sent out.

But Butler is still an upgrade over Bradley, so maybe it's more important to get the better player when you can (assuming a fair deal).

I think we need to worry about upgrading our talent more than anything else right now. Until we have a legitimate shot of beating the Cavs in a seven game series, we shouldn't be thinking about not trading anyone that would bring us a talent upgrade.

Absolutely. The focus should be entirely on finding a way to acquire an All NBA talent, and then putting at least one, ideally two All Star talents next to him.

Until the Celts do that, they're just jockeying to come in second in the East.
