So a friend of mine is close friends with Ken Catanella, went to Springfield University together. For those who don't know, Ken Catanella is the new Asst GM of the Sacramento Kings. Former Detroit Pistons exec and well plugged in, in the MA landscape as he has relationships with MIT Sloan, etc.

My friend said Ken was sh*tfaced at a recent MIT Sloan Sports Analytics conference and would not answer the questions being thrown his way but was alluding to DeMarcus Cousins being traded. One of those situations where he was very talkative in dis-spelling things being said but being tight lipped when asked about Cousins being traded to the Celtics (the event was in Boston so there were a bunch of us degenerates there throwing questions at him).

I really hope that Danny can pull something off for this guy. He is the only player in the league right now worthy of sending large quantities of draft picks/players back to.

One would have to imagine Lakers being a more appropriate trade partner. But one can dream...

I don't think the Lakers are a better trade partner at least not if they're smart.

The minor reason is that Randle and Cousins probably don't fit really well together.

The major reason is because the Lakers are very young with a new coach. With Kobe leaving there's a power vacuum on that team of impressionable youngsters. Adding Cousins to that team could very well destroy the careers of a number of young players and their coach before they ever get started. Everyone knows this. So I doubt the Lakers have any interest in acquiring Cousins due to the volatility.

On the flip side the Celtics are the ideal landing spot. Stevens and Ainge just got extensions - they're not going anywhere and everyone knows they run the show. The team is already comprised of hard working guys with good attitudes. Guys like Crowder, Bradley, IT, Amir and perhaps even Smart are all strong positive characters who are locker room leaders. Putting Cousins here puts him in a comfortable but firmly established locker room where there's not much wiggle room for malcontents. Cousins and IT are already friends as well. There's simply not a better landing spot in the league for Cousins and I'm sure to some extent he knows that.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

I agree Celtics are the best trade partner but Heat may also work in a sign and trade Whiteside + Dragic for Rudy and Cousins.

Boogie is worth all of our first-round picks the next three years.

By "recent," you mean the conference that took place three months ago? Interesting that we're hearing this little tidbit now.

http://www.sloansportsconference.com/people/ken-catanella/

At the time, Catanella was still with the Pistons. Why would he have had any knowledge of a Cousins trade then? He wasn't hired by SAC until more than a month later.

I've been waiting for cousins rumor! Id love it. 3, 16 next year bk pick smart avery, whatever. Cousins is the guy that gets durant, they play way different positions... When has there been dominant big man with a dominant small forward? Wouldn't Durant be intrigued with playing with a guy that demands a double team down low? If

You bet. And the best part: Boogie can hit 70%, maybe 80% with more practice, from the line. Boogie paired with Durant and Thomas, particularly if we could obtain Boogie with just draft picks and maybe Johnson/Olynyk, makes us the odds-on favorites next year...

Random memory: Draymond Green was ripping into GSW during a timeout (I think it was game 3 or 4 vs. the Cavs) and mike breen or Mark Jackson was saying the usual rhetoric of him being the emotional leader and how Draymond is pure heart and passion.

Van Gundy then brings up how it's funny that because DG is on a winning team, him calling out his teammates is called passion. But if DG was on a losing team, we would be saying he's a malcontent. While I don't think Cousins has been a saint in Sacramento, I feel like he's not as much of a head case as people make him out to be. I think he'd be terrific for this team.

I could easily see the lakers throw the farm at the Kings for cousins but the fact they already have traded their 2017 and 2019 1sts really limits what they can offer. Given the lakers bizar workout list maybe they have discussed a Russell, Randell, #32, and #2(Ingram) for Cousins and #8 swap? Depending on your view of Russell this could be an intriguing deal for the Kings as it would quickly given them a young promotable core. The lakers would be left with an empty roster to fills round cousins but may be cocky enough to think they can land say derozen and Barnes.

Whoa, slow down there pal. All first round picks for the next three years?

Boogie is under control for just two more years.

What if he leaves after 2018. Then what? Mortgaged our farm already to get him.

Very bad deal for Kings.

If he is truly available, I could see Danny making a Godfather offer that would include the 3, and the two remaining Brooklyn picks, particularly if we could keep IT, Crowder, Bradley and Smart, our defensive core.  Then get a couple of sharp shooters on the FA market. That would be a very cool team.

Okay, back to reality. You know a guy who knows a guy who was plastered, and was silent about whether the Kings would be trading Boogie?  Yeah, that's credible.

Never mind the fact that's against the rules.
