I'm 33 years old, I've got two kids and a good life. But I feel I'm addicted to this draft. I can't stop reading reports, rumours, watching videos and every type of online stuff about the draft.
I wonder if I developed some kind of psychiatric condition because I want the Celtics to draft Jamal Murray soooo bad that I can't stop thinking about it night and day.
The kid is 19 and just makes this team better from Day 1, something that only Simmons and Ingram could do. Just look how he dominated that Nike Hoops Summit last year alongisde Ingram, Brown, Simmons, Skal Labissiere, Diallo, Maker, etc.
Anyone with the same condition?    :)

I can sympathize, because I used to be that way all the time—with drafts, free agency, trade season—and I still struggle with it at times, but now I just try to roll with it. I don't have to like it—and I don't always—but I can't control it, either.
There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body.

you can't sleep easy now....

Celtics are bringing in Brown for a 2nd workout soon

Yup, it's just like Danny to draft the next Jeff Green (who can't shoot).  Seriously, I get flashback images of Kedrick Brown or JR Giddens.  Jaylen Brown seriously scares me.  If he was the pick at #3 it could be a bust of epic proportions.

At least if Murray isn't the next Curry and only the next Reddick, that would still help address our shooting woes.

Best option, trade the pick in a package for Butler or Paul George.
If not Bender, and pray that he's the next Gasol, Kukoc, or Porzingis.

Out of all the possibilities the two that scare me the most are picking Brown or Hield.  Dunn clearly has the most upside, Murray can actually shoot, and Bender is intriguing.

That's such a good point about Murray. Worse case scenario he's an awesome shooter with not much defense. Best case he's an All Star.

Safe picks  but still  very good. Dunn, Murray

Feast or Famine picks Brown, Chriss, Bender

Hi, my name's Mike and I'm a draft addict.

(Waits for peanut gallery)

I keep thinking that I can't wait until draft day, then I keep thinking that I shouldn't be wishing my days away, then I start thinking that I should stop thinking so much...

OP, if if makes you feel any better, I'm a decade older than you are, with the same two kids and good life. But this draft has taken over.

I actually have a draft day dilemma. Draft night is my anniversary. Naturally, that causes a conflict.

So now I have to decide whether I'm going to let my wife stay in the room with me while I watch the draft. She always wants to, you know, talk. Can't have that while I'm debating Brown/Murray.

Mike

Hi Mike ;D. I'm a draft junkie, as well.  All I can tell the both of you is to try and take the approach that I finally adopted last year - relax and enjoy the 4 hours of comedy that is Danny Ainge and the NBA Draft.  Sure, it's black comedy for Celtics fans, lol, but just remember that we have no say in the matter and that it's not our call.  We're never going to get the players we want, as fans, anyway, because that's simply unrealistic, so sit back, and instead of getting your shot glasses ready for the Jay Bilas drinking game, lol, talk with your wife ;), instead.  She's much more important than anything related to basketball.

I'm also a draft junkie, but, this year, I honestly have no strong preference between any of 5 players.  All have strengths but weaknesses that are scary:

* Murray: Lights out shooter, great scorer, but not super athletic
* Brown: Great athlete, smart, competitor, but can't shoot.
* Bender: Length, defensive quickness/flexibility, but young, rail thin and unproven.
* Dunn: Great athlete and floor general, but can't shoot
* Hield: Light's out shooter, great scorer, but 3 years older than Murray.
(I'm vary wary of Chriss because of the way he's flown up draft boards.  Not too high on athleticism that doesn't result in college production).

For that reason I'm looking forward to draft night to see what happens (hoping for a trade down to get extra assets), but I have no problem sleeping because you can sell me on (or against) any of those 5.

Ahhhh, so therapeutic to read this... :) Almost as good as the possibility of having these moments.

Using this logic, I would add Hield to safe picks, as he's also a lights out shooter.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I prefer Hield over Murray quite significantly .

I think murray is goin to drop to #6,7,or 8.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

Read that last line again. One more time.

Murray is an elite offensive player already and his defense can be worked. Remember Ray Allen or Steph Curry at age 19?

Hield over Murray make no sense at this point. You must explain.

If it's not a trade, I want brown and think that's who it's going to be. If it is brown, can we get love for something like AB, 16 or 23, and Crowder?  Then, still go out and get a Horford or another C. Then the lineup is IT, Smart, Brown, Love, Horford or other.

I think this is a pretty good take. I'd basically be fine with any of them.
Celtics fan for life.
