He's in Cleveland, because he has unfinished business.  It's not unthinkable that he'd leave after accomplishing his goal.  It seems far-fetched, but I could see it happen.  Can't imagine Cavs fans being too upset if he succeeded in bringing them a championship.

Woj has suggested this as well:

Quote
LeBron James will be a free agent again this offseason and Adrian Wojnarowski suggests he could consider leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason should they win a title.

James has been on a series of one-plus-one contracts since returning to the Cavaliers in 2014.

One more victory, one more magnificent night at Oracle Arena, and James will get to run off with his buddies again somewhere warm. Miami. Los Angeles. Wherever. There’s a restlessness about James that craves the next big move, the next power play. Franchises are on watch again, believing nothing’s forever in Northeast Ohio. Sooner or later, there’s a belief that James comes into play again, a line of thinking that his inner circle has done nothing to dissuade.

Both the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers either have the cap space or can create the space to sign him to a significant contract in free agency.

That'd be interesting.

There is always speculation surrounding Lebron but so much of it is false. He left Cleveland because the GM was pathetic and could never surround him with anything close to talent after 6 years. Kobe wanted to leave LA, Pierce was going to leave Boston if the big three wasn't formed and Shaq has played for a thousand teams in his career...and they all had better GMs, coaches and talent around them. James came back because Cavs got their act together again and he understands and wants a legacy...he will retire in Cleveland , even if he never wins another title.

There is always speculation surrounding Lebron but so much of it is false. He left Cleveland because the GM was pathetic and could never surround him with anything close to talent after 5 years.
Check out that Woj article.  Kind of an intriguing take.  He suggests that if LeBron win the title (which is a massive "if"), he'd possibly.  His legacy would be that of the adventurer.

Can you imagine LeBron and Durant joining forces on the Lakers or Knicks?

Book it, Lakers are gonna win multiple championships with that roster. They will demolish the West. If LeBron can destroy the Warriors, and Durant pushed them to a 3-1 series lead at one point...then they will beat them in a 7-game series.

He will go back to full Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. bag mode which I already have him at but some people have taken him out of since his return to Cleveland.

If he leaves again I'll crack up. I told all my hoop friends he's gonna leave again if he gets any chance more to win a title somewhere else. Nobody believed me. It's funny. I'm rooting hard for Lebron and the cavs but it's mostly because I think it's a joke he wasn't MVP the last two years. He's so superior to the next player ( in my minority opinion).

If he leaves Cleveland to go back to Miami or to LA, it will reinforce my distaste, but if he were to go somewhere like Milwaukee, Minnesota, Orlando--a young, up and coming, rebuilding team in a smallish market--that would be cool.

Got their act together? The Nba handed them 2 number 1 draft picks.

If Lebron wins I have to think he signs a one year deal with Cleveland again relishing in the year long love fest for winning clevelands first pro sports title in god knows how long.  It's after next year once the salary cap goes way up again and durant and Westbrook and more are all FAs (again for durant) that I could see him bolting.  He'd be crazy to not return to Cleveland as a king next year after taking down golden state.

Three, actually.  Irving, Bennett, Wiggins.  Also Thompson was a top 5 IIRC.

They've been extremely fortunate.  Their luck has outweighed their incompetence.

This. No way he misses out on the celebration. If he leaves after this season, the story won't be that CLE won, it will be that LBJ left them again. He signs a 1-year deal, then the next year looks to see what Westbrook and others do

I don't understand how people think the NBA would rig the lottery for the CAVS? As if they give a [dang] about Cleveland its called luck lol. But Gilbert finally hired a competent GM in Griffin, agreed to go over the tax threshold (something that he didn't do with Lebron previously) and is now the biggest payroll in the NBA by some margin.
