Yeah, I don't like this comparison either. I still say he has Anthony Davis/Anthony Davis-lite type potential and ceiling, and that's the best comparison to who he could ultimately be. He's big, athletic, long, and can spread the floor with a silky smooth jumpshot. He'll probably never be as good as AD, but his ceiling/comp is AD, imo.

Anthony Davis is a pf/c due to his monster length/broad shoulders

Chriss is more of a PF/SF.  Just the way he moves on the court. And the dribble stop and pop is more of a guard like move.  Anthony Davis doesnt look like a natural when he attempts to do this

It could also comedown to what Chriss and Brown "said" to ainge/cbs during the workout

For example if they were able to identify their weaknesses and what they have done to improve it.   Or when Ainge or CBS pointed out something, they were receptive to the advice

Chriss reminds me of two players = 50% Stromile Swift 50% Ersan Ilyasova.

Not convinced he has star potential despite his athleticism and outside shooting.

Looks short of BBIQ on both ends. That he will underachieve on both ends. Questionable ball-handling. Non-entity as a passer. Limited shot-creation.

Looks much more likely to be a role player (starter) than a high end player to me.

That Stromile Swift reference just made me cringe.

One of the all time busts that seems to fly under the radar.

Was this entire post made so you could mention 'and we can grab Sabonis with the other pick'?

Just kidding. I like both of them. I think Brown is the stronger defender and is very versatile. Apparently Brown has been shooting extremely well in his workouts.

I think Chriss needs a few years in the gym but both of these guys are young and raw and with Stevens guidance, they could both be superstars.

Would be happy with either one.

That is actually a good player if you think about it. Swift failed because he lacked a perimeter game. Ersan would be able to take his game to another level if he was explosive

I think he's got a very strong natural scoring ability. Doesn't really know what he's doing and gets himself into a lot of bad situations, but he always seems to generate makeable shots out of it.

I watched him play Gonzaga and he ran directly into that Polish giant they have at center on one of his tunnel vision drives. By all accounts it should have been a turnover, but he somehow managed to quickly pivot and get daylight for a soft little hook. Reminded me of Antawn Jamison.

For an 18-year-old who hasn't played serious basketball for all that long, it was pretty impressive.

 Who the heck is Dunn on our roster Smart? They both can't shoot, but Dunn and Smart are vastly different players.

If your the Celtics and you want either Brown or Chriss don't you just roll the dice and trade back to 5, 6, or 7 and still get the player you want and assets? Between Murray, Dunn, and Bender someone will want to trade up. Maybe get a future 1st out of the deal.

also need to add that chriss is a historically bad rebounder for a college pf. he also does not box out opponents at all.

he has significant flaws in his game which detract from his overall game.

I have doubts either will make the leap in the NBA.  It's going to take a respectable outside shot in order to open the lane for these guys who want to slash.  Neither has that. 

Also, playing above the rim is extremely over rated these days.  Give me the guy who can consistently out-shoot his opponents, and that understands team defense.
