That would make Danny's job a lot easier.

Hold up a minute... This could explain Ainge meeting with Ingrams agent earlier. Sure, he represents both Love and Barnes (as well as a few other players) - but per league protocol he wouldn't be able to discuss them as their seasons are still going on. Maybe Ingram's agent knows something we don't, and is meeting with Ainge as he knows Ingram may fall.

I finally decided to click.  This is a "big board", not a mock.  Lakers are not taking Dunn at #2.  And if you believe this big board, there's no way the Sixers pass on Simmons.  Not much to see here.

I think it is a stretch that the Lakers reach with the second pick two years in a row.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I wouldn't be that shocked to be honest.

Simmons is a huge step above all other prospects, but I'm not entirely convinced Ingram is.

Ingram is a good player with legit talent and a lot of upside, but I'm not sure his ceiling is nearly as high as many people predict.

People say he looks like the next Durant- I don't buy in to that one bit.  He's not even close to the level Durant was at as a freshman.  Not even close.  I suspect that Tayshaun Prince / Nicholas Batum might be a more realistic projection.

By no means is that a bad thing as both were good players, but not sure he's a franchise player or a perennial all-star.  Not saying it's out of the question, I just don't think it's probable.

I really don't think guys like Dunn, Hield, Brown and Bender as as far apart from Ingram as people might thing, to be completely honest.  I do think Ingram is above those guys, but seeing him slip is not (I think) out of the question entirely.

Towns and Okafor were seen as unquestionable 1/2 picks last year, and Oakfor fell to three.   Anything can happen.

Dunn isn't limited to the PG spot.  He's got the size and scoring ability to play the SG position perfectly fine and there's a good chance he ends up better then anybody we currently have at SG (Bradley / Rozier / Smart).  Not certain, but a good shot.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I seriously doubt Ingram falls past #2 unless Bender somehow goes before him.
Ingram's floor after putting on 20 LBs of muscle currently looks like Rudy Gay, and his ceiling is a franchise guy- even better than Paul Pierce.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Dunn is the most likely with Bender as the dark horse. I would not be surprised, at all, to see Dunn have a better career than Ingram. His in-game athleticism is incredible.

Yeah, seeing guys way higher than I've seen them anywhere else. Poeltl at 6, Bembry as a lottery pick. Other guys dropping. Wonky board.

  • Celtic's only raise championship Banners
As the future owner of the Boston Celtics I could try and explain why LAL would let Ingram slide:

LAL have the best record and ability to pitch FA in basketball. The new strategically ideal way to win basketball games and compete with the best teams would dictate that the LAL select Buddy Hield/trade down to get him(and extra assets).

It would be negligent for them to not already know which FA's they can target the next 2 off-seasons. There are too many STAR players to list, but the new strategic way to win basketball games dictates 3-point shooting and floor spacing ahead of everything.

If I were the Lakers I would be highly considering Buddy Hield. Knowing that LAL have a great ability to land STAR FA's and the next 2 off-season have a hoard of them. Right now my back-court is Jordan Clarkson+Deangelo Russell but Russell is the better 3-point shooter and point guard going foward.
I would be drooling what a pairing of D.Russell/Buddy Hield back-court would mean for the future of this team, not only would it recruit star players but it would automatically stretch the floor and keep defenses honest, and it goes right along with the "NEW BASKETBALL STRATEGY".

Russell: 1.6 3mpg @35.5%,14ppg,3.4rpg,1.2spg,3.3apg, 28mpg

Hield:4 3mpg @45%

IDC what anyone says they have to be thinking that a Russel&Hield back-court will pay off much more than selecting Ingram would, mostly because they can always sign a star 3,4,5.
