Sounds about right. Dunn's going 3rd and we are moving him for Butler.

Quote
Dunn-
The draft begins here, with as many as five players who could be candidates at this spot. The Celtics would love to trade this pick for a NBA-ready player who is a better fit on their existing roster, but that may be somewhat of a long-shot based on what we've seen historically. Kris Dunn likely has the highest immediate trade value as he plays a position this draft is very weak at, even if the Celtics already have a plethora of guards. The Celtics are unlikely to be scared off by not receiving his medical info from his agents or the benefit of a workout, as their own team doctor conducted Dunn's shoulder surgery a few years ago, and they may know him better than anyone in this draft having played right up the road in Providence.

Davis-
The Celtics are in always on the market for length, upside and athleticism, and will be pleased to see Davis to them here at this spot. A lackluster pre-draft process has caused his stock to cool somewhat, but he's too talented to fall much further than here.

Valentine-
With Evan Turner entering free agency, the Celtics could be in the hunt for a versatile, wing player in his mold, and might like the idea of adding someone who was arguably the most productive player in college basketball last season instead of a long-term project. Non-basketball reasons may cause Valentine to slide, but the fact that he can contribute right away on his cheap rookie-scale contract dampens the concerns surrounding his long-term outlook.

He has company. You've gone through Murray, Brown, Sabonis, Hield (at #1), Skal, etc.

Except Bender. Because we don't need anymore bench warmers

Dunn seems to be the most likely selection. Then likely traded for an established big -- I'm guessing Okafor. But maybe we can work out something for Butler without gutting the roster, as unlikely as that seems. But Dun, man... the way he carries himself on the court, talks in interviews with such confidence... the guy just oozes star quality. If he is kept, I imagine Smart will go (which I'd much prefer), though his value will be significantly lower IMO.

Not unless Chicago's price comes WAY down.

I really don't think any of the draft pundits have a clue what DA is going to do. I do know that drafting 3 non draft and stash 1st rounders seems incredibly unlikely. Ultimately I would guess Brown or Bender are the options at #3 with a trade down very likely if the pick can't be used on a Vet. I think the Kings will make a push to move up for Dunn and the Nuggets for Bender: the nuggets have the most to offer with their vets like Faried but they also have picks. I am intrigued by the possibility of trading #3 and 23 for #7, #15, and #19 with the logic being to package the 3 picks in the teens 15,16 and 19 to move back into the lottery. Let's say that trade bring the Cs the 9-11 pick, they could potentially land Brown or Hield along with Poeltl or Ellenson. While not sure things adding two players at that level is a major talent grab. With the depth of rotational talent available at 31 and 35 this could turn a weaker draft class into a very valuable talent haul for the Cs.

If we trade the pick -- saying we would take Dunn only makes sense if that's whom the team we are trading with wants.

I doubt Danny is going to take him on the 'hope' that he has more trade value.  If the intention is to trade the player, whomever he picks will have been chosen already by the other team.

If we do trade the pick, I do like Davis at #16, but I'm doubtful he will really slip to #16.

And while I like Valentine, I don't know how you take him, injuries and all, if Zizic is still on the board.

Givony's mocks are starting to get a little crazy.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Givony is far from perfect.  He had WCS at 14 last year, and us taking the undrafted Cliff Alexander in the first round, and the similarly undrafted Jonathan Holmes at 33 and Robert Upshaw at 45.  He did all right overall, but completely missed on our picks.

He's got to be right once!

I'd be happy with this draft I think. Obviously I'd prefer Bender but Dunn seems to be the best trade chip and is a good player. Davis and Valentine are steals at that position although picking three rookies to come straight in sounds unlikely
