Obviously Butler has no say in the matter, but I also don't think its an accident that Simmons had him on right before the crazy NBA off-season.

That being said, Butler kept on referring to Milwaukee, like a lot. It was always tongue-in-cheek and Simmons always snickered like he knew something. It was almost as if Butler was trying to communicate to the Bulls that is where he wants to be. Obviously he's from the area, but why would you want to go there? Imagine the floor spacing with Monroe-Parker-Giannis-Butler-MCW.

There was a little bit of that with the Celtics too, but not as much.

Man, he is articulated and focused. I'd love to have him in green. I wish we didn't have to give up the 3rd to do it, but I wouldn't cry too much if we did. Even if it doesn't lead to getting another big name, I think Butler makes us a 2nd seed in the East that could really cause Cleveland some struggles.

Listening to it right now. I said this in /r/DKCLeague:

Quote
Fact: Bill Simmons has in the past shown he's got at the very least some connection to the Celtcs' front office.

Fact: Bill Simmons is becoming annoyingly competitive and showy. I will not allow anyone to frame this as an opinion, the guy has like 8 different podcast streams, a website, and a TV show. He's crossed into mogul territory.

Hypothesis: Bill Simmons believes that the Celtics are going to trade the #3 plus pieces for Jimmy Butler, so he got him on his show.

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

My favorite part was Butler talking re: Cousins

"That guy dislikes everybody."

Sometimes I think Bill has set out to completely eclipse ESPN's market share in the area of substantive sports journalism.  Wants to reduce them to live coverage and hot-airy takes from bloviating heads like Skip and Stephen A.

I like Jimmy B. a lot.  That said, I thought it was interesting that he said that he and Derrick Rose were "essentially the same player."

Watching tape of some of his best scoring performances, he's not far off.  The Celts desperately need a two way scoring wing with size like JB, but I'm not sure the fit with him, Crowder, IT, and Smart would be as great as we might hope.  He's cut from a similar mold in terms of his natural inclinations as a scorer, i.e. he's not a great outside shooter and he's most comfortable operating as a battering ram.

Maybe IT, Butler, and Crowder could work if both big man spots were filled at all times by guys who can space the floor out to the three point line.

I thought Bill Simmons was great until he cheered the James Young pick as if we just robbed the NBA. Still think he's great just don't think highly of his make believe GM skills.
ok fine

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I thought that Butler came across very well in this podcast. However, I think the Bulls ask for too much and we just make draft picks.

Enjoyed him saying positive things about Jaylen Brown on the podcast saying Brown remind Butler of himself.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Many of us cheered the James Young pick. In fact, go back and look up the draft grades that year posted on ESPN and other sports websites. You'll find the Young pick is a B+ or an A in almost all of them.

It just didn't work out. It happens.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

a tp for using the word "bloviating" on cb.  :)

ainge swung big on the young pick. at that place in the draft i dont blame him. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. i personally like that he took a chance to grab a young talent (no pun intended) that late in the draft.

which, to me, means that he could very well roll the dice this draft again. it should be interesting.

I can't hold that against him. I liked the potential in the pick at the time, and just wasn't on national TV when it happened. Win some, lose some.

So Kelly Olynyk and Kevin Love? :)

Butler is from Texas according to my 30 sec research. But he did play his college ball at Marquette which is in Milwaukee. The references to Milwaukee were referring to his time in college as far as i could tell not implying that he wants to play for the Bucks. Great listen tho if you have the time.
