Brown has great athleticism and is, apparently, smart... in an academic sense. His BBallIQ doesn't quite measure up to his academic IQ. He had some plays this year that were jaw-dropping in terms of the athleticism. Like 2 long strides from the 3 point line and a vicious left-handed jam over 2 guys. Somebody like Josh Smith comes to mind.
But the thing that's lingering in my mind is, what is the precedent for this type of player becoming a superstar? A guy with limited shooting ability. Limited as a playmaker. Decent rebounder. Pretty one-dimensional as a scorer. I'm not sure he gets there. He seems like a worse version of Andrew Wiggins.
Murray on the other hand doesn't have nearly the athletic gifts but his game is much more refined. He can obviously shoot the lights out, but he also has a sweet in-between game -- 12 foot pullup bank shots and floaters. His bbiq is much higher. He's downright slow for an nba guard, but he has good timing, hesitation moves, anticipation, good at positioning, spacing, and underrated ball handling.
You can make a team out of guys like Murray. He has the POTENTIAL to be a really savvy, starting, scoring 2 guard. I think Murray is Allan Houston. Shooting trumps athleticism.
