There is a sense that the Boston Celtics want to trade the third overall pick, but more and more executives believe the Celtics take Kentucky’s Jamal Murray or Cal’s Jaylen Brown if they keep the pick. Washington’s Marquese Chriss could be the dark horse for the Celtics in a bet-on-the-upside move. If the Celtics do not take Brown, its believed Denver and Sacramento are the next two teams extremely high on him as a prospect.

International big man Georgios Papagiannis could be the Philadelphia 76ers’ pick at No. 24 or No. 27 – not as a roster player this season, but more as a draft and stash. The problem for the 76ers is they are not alone in their interest in the 7’2 big man. The Celtics are there at No. 23 and the Hornets are there at No. 22, and both are said to be very high on Papagiannis as well.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Also, the Celtics are said to be considering Dunn, Hield, or Bender.

Look, I can do, it, too.

Thanks for posting, though - the 2nd part about Papagiannis is interesting as draft and stash candidates should be a strong consideration if we are unable to move our picks.

On draft day before it takes place we will know who they are going to take. If we don't trade the pick which I don't think they will find a trade they like.

Have to think that considering the names of players being thrown out that we have interest in, a trade down to 6 (New Orleans is said to be very high on Dunn) or 7 (Denver has multiple picks and player we have interest in) seem like good possibilities where we get a player we like along with other assets.

What do executives from other teams know about Boston's draft outlook?

This is my hope, as well. Unless we are able to come up with a star player using the #3, then I am more than happy to get WCS and #8 or even Gallo and #7. I know we are building towards a contender, but Danny can't help himself when it comes to asset acquisition/value (and I am happy about that).

That if the Celtics have no interest in Dunn (or Bender), no one has to trade up to Boston's spot to get him.

Especially good for the team that wants to trade a pick shortly after the Celtics pick.

On the Denver front, Sam Vecenie had a Nuggets writer on and he said that the Nuggets, armed with their high level international scouting, are enamored with Bender and think him and Jokic would be a deadly and versatile combination. He proposed that the Nuggets send #7, Gallo, and Barton for the #3 in order to draft Bender. Just some food for thought from a Denver perspective.

TP, PHX is supposedly high on Bender and I wouldn't be surprised at Denver given their bent for foreign players (what am I bid?). I'd take that DEN deal.

BTW, there was a sportscaster in Arizona saying the same thing that Kyler did a day before FWIW if anything.

I like Papagiannis. Great hands, nice jumper. The end of the first round is a bit too high IMHO for him.

But that's exactly why Boston, and every other team, wants to keep its intentions secret.

I'm not big on Gallo but Gallo, Barton and #7 for #3 would be hard to pass up.  It's the addition of Barton that makes this worth considering -- just Gallo and the pick doesn't do it for me.

I know almost nothing about Barton. Is he a 2 or a 3?

Luke Winn has a really good documentary on Bender. Good video and practice footage.

Mike

He's a scorer. Very streaky. He's a 2. Way too thin to cover most 3's.
