HW vs KL 2015-16 Advanced stats

Real +/-    1.22/5.74
Box +/-      2.5/2.5
VORP      0.5/0.5
PER       24.4/19.2
WinShares   1.7/1.8

I'd take this as a Love advantage with Whitesides PER advantage  somewhat biased because of his position. Longer term Love has clear edge. Otherwise, Love can come via trade, supposedly is open to BOS, and has a better personality for lack of a better description off the top of my head.

Yes, but Whiteside doesn't cost the #3 overall pick.  Just cap space.  I feel like I prefer Horford though even though he's older.

-Kevin Pelton had a good point on Nate Duncan's Podcast, he thinks this is a good year to lock up rim protection since 2017 only has 2 rim protecting options on the market in Ibaka and Andrew Bogut.

-If we can get Whiteside I say we go for it,  as Bill Simmons said you can have one headcase(not 2 or they'll hang out together) on the roster to provide an edge and your best player doesn't have to be your leader. He is a disruptive player on offence and defence. Like many around here I'd trust Stevens to put Whiteside in positions to succeed.

-If we drafted Jamal Murray having an athletic shot blocker behind him could mask some his his deficiencies on D.

-One concern i could see would be a potential Jimmy Butler paring. He had issues with Rose's work ethic. If Whiteside started dogging it in practice could see Jimmy having issues.

-If we we're to get Whiteside hire McHale as the big man coach.

I'm fine with Whiteside but not for the max, he's no where close to that value.

Not a fan, while he has potential I feel like he has greater potential to be Andrew Bynum 2.0

Having a paint clogging center surrounded by average to above average 3pt shooters (volume>%) didn't quite pan our for the 2007-2011 Orlando Magic.

Although they would drive me up a wall with that style when we played them.  ;D
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Whiteside cures some ails for this team. His attitude fits in defensively.

I think about adding Butler and Whiteside to this team and get chills thinking about our D.

If we can pull that off I think Durant is comming aswell.
The lineup of:
Smart
Butler
Durant
Crowder
Whiteside
...with IT as a 6th man,
would give us a 5 year contendership. I did the math and it works capwise.
I dream of that lineup even more than Celts drafting my homeboy Bender. Killer lineup.

If Smart turns into Game 4 Smart on a regular basis that lineup is a Golden State killer.

Cap-wise, that'd be much easier to do than Horford/Durant/Butler, too.

Even though Whiteside is already 27, since he hasn't been in the league a ton I think he has upside in terms of improving his rotations. If we could integrate a shot blocker like him into our defense we would probably have the best defense in the league.

Whiteside makes a ton more sense if we are going after Love, since he could cover up for some of Love's mistakes. For spacing reasons on offense I would want to see Whiteside next to a floor spacer at the 4.

I didn't want to max out Whiteside early in the year, but before he got hurt in the playoffs he changed my mind. With the free agent class being weak for Centers next year, signing Whiteside might be a good long term move.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I think we would still have a full mid level to sign a Jared Dudley or someone like that. He would mesh in instantly.

When the cap keeps rising in 3-4 years, and max contracts become 35-40M/Year, then Whiteside's 25M/year will look like a bargain.

Not saying it should be their #1 option, as the Celtics should explore cheaper options out there too.

But would you pay Howard 30M/Year? Horford a Max? Maybe if KD likes Horford then yes but other then that no way.

Maybe Joakim Noah on a reasonable deal. But if we get Whiteside for the max I wouldn't be dissapointed at all. He fits the need of rebounding, interior scoring and rim protector that the Celtics sorely need. And if he can keep giving us 14/12/4 (4 blocks a game!) type numbers I'm perfectly fine, but Stevens can probably make him even better.

Also I find it funny the same people who call Whiteside a "nutcase" and "cancer" for this team would LOVE to get Cousins. Yes I get Cousins is 5x better than Whiteside but the double standards here are funny. Also he fits the defensive attitude of our team (guys like Smart, Crowder, etc.) and it doesn't hurt to have an instigator on this team (look at Draymond Green in GSW, or Dellavedova for Cleveland).

It's ike we're going through my personal basketball rogue gallery...Love, Okafor, Parker, Anthony, Whiteside...

Ugh
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Is Whiteside going to pout if he sits on the bench while a smallball lineup takes the floor at the end of a close game?
