He also thinks he will be picked in the lottery, which shows that he is very confident about his abilities. I could see that happening, but then the Celtics will likely have to trade up into the #10-12 range to get him probably (Suns look like they want him at #13).

I really hope the Celtics draft him, although I think the Celtics will have to take him at #16 if they want to as opposed to #23 or #31 as most people thought earlier.

Every player in this draft thinks they are pretty good
I was laughing when i read this

He is ways away.  I would considee taking him at 23 or 31.  Stashing him somewhere for a few yeara

I was actually surprised when he said he and his agents think he is a lottery selection.

But then I read somewhere the Suns may be interested in him at #13.

We'll see, I think Maker could fall at #23 and we can scoop him up.

But if it's between Sabonis/Valentine/Maker at #16 it will be a tough decision. Risk losing Maker between #17-22 and take Sabonis/Valentine, or take Maker at #16 straight up instead of Sabonis or Valentine.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I'm still more than happy to take Maker at #16. There will be other good players available at #23 and #31. The guy moves so fluidly, can hit the mid-range jumper, is crazy athletic, and [most importantly] very intense. He may never develop into an all-star, but the potential sure is there.

He just doesnt have enough skills (currently) or is explosive or strong.  Good length, mobility

Good upside but needs a few years

Dont think suns take him at 13

I want Maker at #16 but if Valentine is still on the board itd be hard to pass him up.

I am intrigued by Maker.  I hope we get him.  I suspect we won't take him at #16 and maybe not even at #23 but if he is there at #31 I really hope we take him.

Teams will regret taking him in the 1st round. I mean I guess if we can pick Fab Melo we can pick Maker but... there's a lot of guys who can be rotation players in the back end of the first round, you gotta be confident that Maker will turn into something. Personally I'm not

Wouldn't touch Maker in the first round.  I pretty much think he is garbage in a 7 foot body.

The major difference between Maker and Melo is that Maker is actually intelligent and has a solid work ethic, whereas Melo was a knuckle dragging moron. From everything that I have read about him, Maker is willing to put in the effort to add weight to his frame and make the most of his potential. I have no doubt that he would have been better off going to college because it would have made him less of an enigma, but hopefully the workout today helped shed some light on his abilities.

I'm not saying your right or wrong, just curious, what do you base this on?

Been saying all along hield at 3 and maker at 16.  We're stupid if we draft otherwise and these two are available.

I just think he suffers from an identity crisis (among other things).  He thinks and plays like a guard but he isn't.  Defensively he is nowhere near as effective as you would think.  And I question his decision making.  I don't like his game at all.

Now, if he really is a good shooter then maybe he can carve out a career as a Channing Frye or something.  But I don't see him making.

Another example why the NBA needs to raise the age limit, I'm so sick of looking at 18/19 year olds that haven't proven aything. :(
