Absolutely not. I don't understand what the fascination with that guy is.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
This is a bit dramatic, but I'm not sure I would trade James Young for Nurkic - he doesn't fit with Brad's style, at all.

Emphatically no.

The Nurkic fascination is my worst nightmare.

I wouldn't mind Nurkic, but wouldn't trade 3 straight up for him.  Though I would love exploring options where we downgrade the pick and pick up a player in the process, of which Denver makes a lot of sense since they own multiple picks.

Nurkic, Gallinari, 7

for

Johnson, Olynyk, 3

Something like that makes some sense for both teams.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Bigs - Shaquille O'Neal, Victor Wembanyama
Wings -  Lebron James
Guards - Luka Doncic

Considering all factors, injury history, etc...that deal is pretty balanced.  Good one.

his per minute stats are amazing for a 21 year old.  So he might actually end up being a great player. I'd hope we could get someone better with #3, but if this draft is as weak as people say, we probably will not.

That trade doesn't make any sense.  Gallo is valuable by himself.  Amir and oly don't really have much trade value. Based on comments from Stevens (considering 7 guys at #3), it sounds like #3 and #7 are basically interchangeable.  So more or less this trade has us getting nurkic and gallo for free.  Based on pelton's logic we'd need to include #16 and both future Brooklyn picks for this trade to even out.

True in some ways...we do win that trade.  But injuries are a factor..Nurkic is currently in career set back mode after a great start. Gallo has had endless problems...every year.  And then there is Denver's fanatical love (fantasy) of Bender at 3.

LB, This proposal is so dumb, and I know you are not dumb, so I can only think you did this to provoke anxiety for all other Celtic fans who have a more reasoned view than you and Pelton on the value of the 3rd pick in this draft.  Nice job.

And absolutely none of that should surprise any of us. It's a time honored Celtics blog tradition by now.

That's a horrifying trade. Oh my goodness.

Ive heard some smart people say that Brooklyn will win 50 games this year. Thats all Im saying, and the #3 pick this year is approximately as valuable as pick 45 in a typical draft. Again, this is just what Im hearing from experts. Would be pretty dissapointed if it turns out that way.

Amazing is a pretty big stretch. We're talking 17/11/3(blocks) with 6 fouls, 4 turnovers, and shooting 42% this year per 36 minutes. The 17 points is a mirage because nobody is going to let a big guy shoot 42% with 5 foot range to that total... and he's also never going to play 36 mpg at that size.

Again, it's not like I wouldn't roll the dice on him for the right price, but there's not amazing or top-3 pick worthy about his first 2 seasons. He had a PER of 16 (by comparison, Jokic was over 21) which is nothing special for a low post big man playing limited minutes.
