That's an overpay for Gasol. Smart, 16, and the Brooklyn swap rights pick next year for a 31 year old center coming off of a major foot injury? I'm not sure about that.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

If his medicals check out him and Butler might convince Durant to come here. When healthy Gasol is the best center in the league, and it's not like athleticism is a big part of his game anyway.

I am torn by this.

On one hand, the players coming in would definitely get us into 2nd round of playoffs next year and have a good shot at ECF. On the other hand our "IMO" Centerpiece is Marc Gasol - a player I've pined for on here for last couple of years because I simply LOVE his game.

BUT his is 31 years old, though..and coming off of an injury.

In some ways such a trade reminds me of what Danny did in 2007. Those moves produced Banner 17 and we were seemingly headed for Banner 18 until BOS/KG visited Utah in 2009... :'(

If Michael J Fox could take that John Delorean vehicle into the future and GUARANTEE that such a move would get us by CLE or TOR and THEN get us by "probably" GSW next year on route to Banner 18 then I'm all for it. But I'm sure I'd miss the outgoing parts here.

I've grown rather attached to AB and Marcus...

Such moves would mean our "new" Big Three would be IT4, Jimmy B and Marc. I love this. As is, though, our "window" would be only as long as Marc Gasol's health and endurance.

If Marc is as productive as his brother Pau is at almost 36 years of age then I'd guess we'd have a 4 or 5 year window to contend...our window with KG/Paul/Ray was roughly the same.

This potential new Big Three is younger, though - with IT4 and Jimmy B being in their mid 20s. This could perhaps lengthen our contention window.

Would this be enough to net KD? I have no idea. But this new team would be a sight to behold especially if Marc can stay healthy.

There's three players I don't want. One, Dwight Howard, age and the cost to get him is my issue. Two, Paul Gasol, he's a year older and a year slower, no need to go to the bank there. Three, Kevin Love, he shows glimpses of a good basketball player but he takes plays off, I'm all set with someone who's expecting a pay day but puts half the effort. We gotta go young. Build through the draft and utilize our assets, not give them away for the elderly.

The problem with this premise is that if you get Durant, and you are shipping Marcus out, you will wish you parted with Crowder instead of Bradley. Its tough to see a full role for Crowder with Durant and Butler logging heavy minutes, but Bradley could still get 25+ minutes and be very useful.

I mean we come out of that pretty well tbh. The Butler trade is very fair, possibly even a slight underpay.
The Gasol trade is very steep. I don't like giving up Marcus at all. However if you are convinced that adding Gasol can lead to a championship window then I'm ok with it.

The whole mock is prefaced off of a 3 way trade that takes Philly from 1 to 4 and 6. I don't think the picks change much if it doesn't happen but still...

Bradley for Butler does not work on Draft Night. Would have to be completed later this July.

Ditto for the Smart-Gasol trade.

Without looking closely at the non-Celtic trades, I suspect many of them also don't work per the CBA.

I know that you must give up things to GET things, but I'd guess we'd also take a small step back defensively by losing AB and Marcus.

Aren't these two our best defenders atm? And Marcus was incredible at times in the playoffs..

Our post defense would improve with Marc and Amir (if Amir comes back, especially). Marc is an extremely smart defender as well. He's never really relied on athleticism or jumping ability but I've seen him do some incredible textbook-type defensive plays....I've seen clips of him single-handedly stopping 2 on 1 fast breaks by simply using his length and getting proper positioning...he'd make Coach Stevens extremely happy I'd bet.

That mock is an amusing little fantasy world. It's premised first and foremost on a three team trade in which the star-desperate Sixers trade away their first bit of rebuilding good luck for the fourth and sixth picks in a draft weak on above average talent outside the top two.

WOW. The guy goes all in on trades. I don't think the draft will have half that many trades. Marc Gasol? Not sure he's our guy. I am on record saying the Fakers end up with Simmons but I don't think the C's will move #3 for a star simply because the opportunity wont be there.

Personally with the Cavs and GSW being so dominant I'm leaning towards building through the draft.

As far as the Celtics are concerned, these trades aren't that far-fetched.  Bradley and 3 for Butler is an absolute HOME RUN.  I'm Smart's biggest fan, so it would hurt to see him go, but if Gasol is healthy, he'll have a few good years left.  You just can't include next year's Brooklyn pick under any circumstance. Gasol's health is a big IF though.  Lottery protect the pick and you got a deal.  Sign Durant and we're in business.

You gotta give up real assets to get players that good.

Props to the dude who wrote this article. I don't think I've ever done that much trading playing as a GM in NBA'15

Or even with my baseball cards as a kid.

LOL.  His very first move in the draft is highly unlikely.  Sixers cannot afford to give up the rights to a  potential franchise player for later picks in this year's draft.  Sixers will take Simmons then have to find a way to clear their big man logjam.

I'm ok with the Butler trade even though losing AB is going to hurt.  I feel that's a very big overpay for Gasol at age 31.  Marcus Smart is a special flex defender in the modern NBA and we just lost AB.  I'd rather package picks to move up and take Deyonta Davis, then spend our cap space on a Horford or Noah to protect the rim.

Is Tyreke Evans really on the trading block, and could he really be had for a borderline first-round pick and an aging Diaw? I would think we could easily outbid that. May be preferable to trading a lot for Butler...
