This forum would lose its mind if the C's traded the #3 for Nurkic.
I would lose my mind if this happened:
The No. 3 pick, Isaiah Thomas and Jonas Jerebko for Jimmy Butler.
and in a bad way.
Not sure if that speaks more to how overrated Jimmy Butler is, how underrated Isaiah Thomas is... or how little anyone thinks of the projected role players available at #3.
In my view it's the overrating of Jimmy Butler.
I agree. THe valuation of premium brand Ricky Davis is out of control.
I love Jimmy Butler and I laughed when I read that proposal, way too much.
These idiots are just fairly clueless.
I must be missing something. We're talking about picking up one of the best 2 way players in the entire league. A couple years ago, we acquired IT for Marcus Thornton and a late first round pick!
Now you wouldn't trade IT and the #3 pick for, arguably, one of the top 10 players in the entire league?! A go-to scorer who happens to be a near all-nba defender. A guy who has a fanatic work ethic and is the best player on ~25 out of 30 nba teams? Ricky Davis is a pimple on Butlers @ss. If we do end up with Butler, we're giving up a lot more than this, and it's probably still a good deal.
I would give up the 3rd pick and Avery bradley+extra junk for Butler.
I wouldnt give up IT and the 3rd pick.
Regardless of what we got IT for, he's a top 25 NBA player on a role players salary for another 2 years-we need him here with Butler to give the Eastern Conference crown a real shot.
Only way I'd do this is if Durant promised to come on the acquisition of Butler because it's a massive overpay to throw IT in with #3. (Just my opinion).
What about, if Phoenix wants Bender, trade 3 and IT for 4, 13, 28, and 34? Or even just IT for 13, 28, and 34, or perhaps just 13 and 34?
Good lord no!!!
We already have #3, which we can use to draft absolutely any player we want after the 76ers and Lakers select.
Why would you trade down from #3 to #4
and in addition to that also give up Thomas (an All-Star and a top 10-15 scorer in the NBA, who is only 25, on a cost controlled contract) when all you get in return is #13, #28 and #34?
If you're going to trade down then you'd do something like:
#3 + #23 + #31 + #35
for #4 + #13
That would give us #4, #13, #16, #45, #51 - that would be a trade worth making, and Phoenix might consider it if they are REALLY high on Bender.
If you were going to consider trading IT then it would be something like:
IT + #16 + #35
for #4 + #13
That would give us #3, #4, #13, #23, #31 - I don't think I'd do that myself, but if you wanted to rebuild with you you'd make that trade and try to get something like Dunn (to replace IT), Bender and Sabonis.
But trading #3 and Thomas when the two best assets you get back are #4 and #16 - that's grand larceny.
