My concern is if Danny can't trade any picks and he has to keep all 8, what's he gonna do with all those players ? Can't draft n stash to many players

Does it really matter?  It's not he's going to play any of them, anyway.

Well if they're hard workers he will ie Smart,  Rozier, Hunter etc dont ya reckon?

Nah, and I wouldn't get my hopes up, because they'll end up spending the majority, if not all, of next season, in the d league, so hopefully they go all out in the summer league and the preseason.  Well, if they're lucky in regards to the latter.  Ugh.

Listening to Stevens logic, I guess he is content on winning 45 games a year until his contract runs out or when he goes back to Indy.

I understand homework needs to be done on these players but anything short of dealing that pick is a complete embarrassment to the paying fan.

Find an established player on the market and make a deal!

 From the herald today.

In the event they make and keep the third overall pick, the Celts have narrowed their thoughts to, according to Stevens, “seven or eight” players.

“I’ve got a good idea when I talk to Danny and the front office about who they’re really targeting and focused on as far as those seven or eight guys,” Stevens said. “But we’ve got so many picks that you can’t stop there.

So let's speculate on who the seven or eight players is.
is he referring to 7-8 options they like at #3?  Does that mean pick 10 is roughly the same as pick 3 in this draft ?

Poeltl would have a legit chance at playing next season somthing most of these guys cant say.

*Nods head in agreement*

This is also why we ought to move up to secure his services because he is not going to fall to 16, but he is also not likely in the top eight. It is a lot safer to trade up by moving those four picks rather than drafting four guys between 16-35. Let's take the sure-guy rather than having an overloaded roster that needs to cut a couple young guys at the end of the day.

I will be thrilled if one of our top free agents is an all-star-albeit-aging center (either Howard or Horford), particularly if Poeltl is ready to spell them whenever fatigue/injuries occur (and ready to replace them in 3-4 years).

No, just that with the #3 pick there are 7-8 guys who will be in the mix. They might like some (Simmons) a heck of a lot more than others (e.g., Hield).

It's just a statement about due diligence as I read it.

I am starting to think that a scenario where we end up with #3 and say, #11 could be great, even if it means giving up #16, #23 and one of the second rounders for the latter.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Assuming he's leaving Ingram and Simmons out of the 8 players, I'd guess:

Bender
Brown
Hield
Dunn
Murray
Chriss

With
Poeltl, Deytona Davis or Labissiere as wildcards on the outside looking in.

He wants guys with work ethic. To me that's one of Brown, Murray or Hield, possibly Bender.

I would not assume he's leaving Simmons and Ingram out.  Certainly those two are in the decision tree.  If one of them falls, you don't want to be unprepared, wondering if Philly or LA knows something you don't know.  Last year, LA surprised a lot of people by taking Russell.  Maybe they'll do that again (surprise, not take Russell.)

I think this year that the top two are a clear cut above the rest-alrhough they will be considered/studied seriously.
I think there are the guys above as the more likely guys available at #3.
I think last year didn't have the cut/dryness of this years top two.

Poeltl is a 7'1" guy with a man's body who plays hard on both ends of the court, has great physical attributes, and outstanding intangibles.  He's got Celtic written all over him.

I doubt Poeltl would get the pick at #3 because his upside doesn't seem quite as high as the others, but I wouldn't count him out as somebody the Celtics are probably looking at closely regardless.

After all, every off-season over and over again Danny makes comments about needing to address their front court.  I'm a firm believer that (short of a surprise leap by Labissiere) Poeltl is the best center in this draft.

smh. That's what you and CoachBo would say before the extension.

For what it's worth, Brad himself has said that he would prefer to trade it for a proven player, but that he also likes the guys in the draft, and trusts Danny to make the best decision.

That should be how we feel as well.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Yeah right.  If Poeltl the Turtle actually got to play it would only be because he had developed a 3 point shot ::).

Kris Dunn doesn't fit the work ethic mantra?  He works with quite intensity (well, from what I've read, anyway).
