Yes...good deal for both sides.   Butler is the best player involved so that makes me happy.

Does anyone really see Durant moving this summer?

We could he making the pick for Chicago and then sending it to them.

Or flipping Okafor.

Okafor + Bradley + Rozier, for example, sounds like a nice rebuilding gift to Chicago who are about to part ways with Gasol and Rose (next year). They could go ahead and trot out:

Rose / Bradley / Mirotic / Portis / Okafor and groom Rozier.

Yeah this article is pure speculation. The bleacher report writer didn't report anything we don't already know about Butler and the Celtics. He just wrote about the possibility of it happening as opposed to saying there was a deal legitimately being discussed.

I think its a no-brainer myself. You don't get players like Butler in their prime on good contracts easily. If we make this trade for him, and sign Horford, we would automatically be a contender in the East even without Durant, and we would still have 2 more Nets picks remaining to get another star.

Also, it Ainge and Stevens want to win now, nobody in the draft at #3 0r #16 is going to help us in the next 2+ seasons.

for those who can't see the article:
Butler for AB, Rozier, Jonas, #3 and #16

seems a bit steep.  maybe #23 for #16 instead.

Moneywise we'd be trading some seriously advantageous contracts for one expensive player.  Like at least one other poster, I'm not sure that there's enough improvement with Butler over Bradley to sacrifice the rest and pay a king's ransom.

Not quite. Butler's contract, for a player of his talent and age, under the new CBA is a huge bargain.

Guys, this isn't a real rumor. From the intro to the quoted article:

Grab your imagination hats. It's time to hypothetically, and significantly, tinker with the NBA's competitive landscape.

Trades and free-agency signings will be our tools for this mission. We're proposing, then analyzing, deals and signings that would change the way we view certain teams, rebuilds and championship races.

These scenarios are not real or necessarily rumored. And they are deliberately ambitious. So open your minds and abandon your biases, because we're about to get weird.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Probably one of the players that Durrant would team up with .

So .......if you want Durrant ......some deal like this is going to have to go down.

I agree it seems too much.......BUT ......If it lands Dirrant to Boston ......

Then .....better players will be more inclined to join .......I guess it is just the way the NBA works .

And .....cap room is pretty not an issue .....when you got super stars .....time is limited .....you do like the Cavs .......pay to get who you need to hang a banner .

If it takes 100 million .....then that's what it takes .

I'm in ......Durrant is serious about gett n a ring .......

I think DA wifi see IF he can pull off another all star gathering trade.

IF Cavs LOOSE .....this might really set things off........Love might be on the loose as well.

I don't think that trade helps us as much as people think it will.

Hurts our chance of having double-max cap space.  Butler isn't as dramatic an upgrade over Bradley as people think (Bradley might be a better shooter and apparently is a better defender according to the All-Defense rankings).  And the #3 pick, while looking grim, could reasonably end up someone better than Butler.
That would be a delightful problem to have. Butler and two guys who are worthy of max contracts and want to be here. If that "problem" arises, we could always move Crowder and Olynyk for future draft picks without taking salary back plus let all team option and free agent guys just walk. I love Crowder, but Butler, plus say Durant and Horford, would make his loss less painful.

After thinking about it more I think we would be better off trading #3 for Okafor. We are fine at guard but need a big badly.

honest question cause i don't watch the bulls,   but if butler is this good why do the bulls suck so bad?  i don't think he moves us to any type contender versus Cleveland.

God I hope we don't do this.  How much better is Butler than AB?  Now consider the salary difference.  No way this makes sense.
