Steve Kyler heads Basketball Insiders, is plugged into ORL Magic in particular, and is the most prolific BB pundit on Twitter. I’m editing the tweets a bit to keep unrelated info to a minimum.

====

Your guess who's the first team to go off the chart with a surprise pick? Who it might be?

Kyler: Lakers could, Boston likely... the next 6 picks could be any combination of 15 guys.

====

Jeff Teague or trade Okafor for the 3rd pick and draft Sunn? Dunn vs Teague? I like dunn

Kyler: You are assuming thats possible to do... Boston not moving the 3 just for Okafor, would take a lot more.

====

Bender does nothing for Celtics for 3 years though.

Kyler: Bender not the top guy on Boston's board... they are very high on Jaylen Brown and Marquese Chriss

===

if the trade is OK4, Covington and Stauskas for 3 and Young, I think Boston does it.

Kyler: I think they might too...

[Note - Covington and Stauskas are being mentioned in the Teague-Noel rumored trade too]

====

Bender  tweet combined I think the point he makes about how little time Bender's played compared to Zinger and Hezonja is a solid one.

Kyler: ...You are massively overvaluing Bender and undervaluing Okafor.…  had a lengthy conversation with some folks around [Bender] recently - not good things being said about Bender. …There is so much we do not know about Bender because he does not play much... hard to invest in that scenario. ...Bender could end up being a lot more Darko than people are willing to admit.,,, If you think you have Bender figured out after 208 possessions this year... good for you. Just asking - if Bender is such a game changing star in the waiting, why doesn't he play? Porzinigis over 20 per game... Mario Hezonja around 16 per. Much larger sample size on both. … No. There is a lot of talent there, but talent is one part of the equation.

wow.

Thats the second expert (Chad Ford  being the first) to suggest that it is Boston rather than Philly dealing from the position of power in the Okafor talks.
 since no one has refuted this claim this makes it fact in the LarBrd school of logic.

Its hard to judge any philly players, but Covington seems to be the closest thing to a 2-way player on that team.

He has swing size and can shoot threes pretty well and from what Ive heard defend. That sounds like a terrific fit coming off the bench behind Crowder.

Not sure how plugged in this guy is.

He brings up a very interesting point about okafor. All of us have assumed it would be 3 and pieces for okafor, yet he asserts it would be okafor and pieces for 3. Is the nba internal community not very high on what Okafor's ceiling in the league is? Some of us here on CB assume he is a lock for a 25-28 and 12 guy.

Great post (I made a thread for one of his tweets earlier) tp!

I think it's questionable that Kyler knows what our actual board looks like. Either he was fed information by Boston for a specific reason, or someone from another team is guessing.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'm with them, I don't think the Cs have to settle for giving up 3 for Okafor. My plan is for #16, Young/Hunter/Rozier, 2017 Brooklyn pick for Okafor

The 2017 pick could end up being more valuable than the 2016 pick. the 2017 draft is supposed to be much better than this version.

Is the next draft always better?

They weren't saying that next year is going to be a better draft last year.

Not as plugged in as Woj, but pretty plugged in and a lot more Twitter active than anyone else. Very plugged into the Magic.

Yeah when I read "lot more" I got really excited, then that was somewhat of a dissapointment. However, I do like Covington. From what I've read (I wont pretend to watch a ton of Philly basketball) hes a nice piece.

Interesting and good news if that is the case.

Also on the note of the 2017 draft, yea it has been known as a good draft for awhile. Some drafts get more hype than others due to the high profiles of a certain number of players. 2014 for example was considered good, but may not live up to expectations. 2015 was basically okafor for years, but it may be one of the best big man drafts in a long time.

2017 is supposed to be sf/wing and center heavy.

Sure, let's go with it.  Okafor AND Stauskas for #3?...  I'd weep tears of joy.

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/sports/sixers/Could-Noel-and-possibly-Stauskas-Covington-be-Hawks-bound-.html

Quote
A source has confirmed that the Sixers have had multi-player trade talks with the Atlanta Hawks. Yahoo Sports reported that the teams are discussing a deal centered around packages that include the Sixers center Nerlens Noel and Hawks point guard Jeff Teague. Noel will enter the final year of his rookie deal next season. Meanwhile, Teague will become a free agent following the 2016-17 season.

Sixers shooting guard Nik Stauskas and/or small forward Robert Covington could be included in the deal, according to a source.

The Sixers tried to send Stauskas, point guard Ish Smith and one of their late first-round picks to the Hawks at the trade deadline in exchange for point guard Dennis Schroder.

Would you rather have Sauce Castillo or Covington?
