The league will be a better place when this Egomaniac is gone.

+1.....EGOMANIAC?...why would you describe someone who has A messianic complex, with a huge tat " The Chosen 1" emblazoned at the top of his back, who refers to himself as "the king" and proclaims that he has a HUGE basketball IQ an egomaniac.

Couple all that with 1. the blatant favoritism that the refs/league give him on calls (6 whole consecutive games with NO FOULS on one streak)2. his incredible "luck" ( must be his genes, huh) of no significant injuries despite his style of play and high usage and 3.his warped perspective of recent NBA history of comparing how his cHeat team (which was conspiratorially put together) to the way our Cs in '07 was put together, and you've got one pretty unlikable dude.

And some wonder why many beat on this guy?

All of this and he HAS to have HIS guys on His team--or he will take his Ball and go home....or somewhere else....HUGE Dirt bag....and everyone bends over backwards for this guy.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

It surely has to be mentioned that he didn't have to beat a single team with a strong chance at winning a title to get there.
But why is that LeBron fault? He can't control that. That's like saying the Patriots records shouldn't be looked at highly because they play in the AFC East. You can't control who you play.

Well for the bulk of his recent finals appearance (heat days) his actions directly diluted the eastern conference. He created a super team and took the other stars of the east with him. Then as soon as they started to decline, he hopped back to the team in the east with the brightest young star studded future (cle) under the guise of going home.

He may not be able to control the competition he faces but he isn't exactly innocent in all of this.
Right. LeBron is now responsible for the rest of the East sucking. What else are we going to hear?

it's lebron's fault because he singlehandedly made the east weaker when he brought bosh with him to the heat

It's not his fault but it is fair to mention.

People say that about the Pats all the time. Lots of wins in the regular season but not nearly as frequently the best team in the playoffs.

Counterpoint:  Should all those Celtics players have an asterisk because there were only eight teams in the league?  No?  I didn't think so.

It's kinda of a silly argument that any team/player should be forced to qualify their accomplishments in every conceivable way.  It's similar to how last years Warriors team catches crap because they didn't have to face the Spurs, Clippers, or a full strength Cavs to win the title.  Every team has to catch some major breaks to win a championship.  The '86 Celtics didn't have to play the Lakers in the Finals, still think that team is the best in history.  Bottom line: get outta here with your asterisks.

Six consecutive Finals is incredible, no asterisks.

You think that's incredible?

How about what Russel, KC and Sam Jones did?

I didn't know the two feats were mutually exclusive. It is, however, worth noting that the league has evolved greatly since then, though. Even with the lack of parity in the East, 6 straight Finals in the modern era of basketball is incredible.

They're not mutually exclusive, however....

Having 3 players winning 8 consecutive CHAMPIONSHIPS  on the same team makes 6 consecutive Finals APPEARANCES pale in comparison, irrespective of any evolution of the league.

Eh, I don't know about that. But if he ends up 2 for 7 in the Finals after this year, then it will seriously harm his legacy as one of the all-time greats, especially after him hand picking teams like he has.

Jerry West went 1-for-8 in Finals.  Is his legacy diminished?

EDIT:  Beaten to the punch.

He's up  there as one of the GOATs, no doubt. But his career shouldn't be compared to the likes of Jordan.

Perhaps Wilt would be a better comparison?
