Those are the most realistic trade options, less realistic if the Noel trade happens with Atlanta. Write in your Bpa selection if that's your choice.

Is it the #3 pick straight up in those trades or are we giving up more assets?

Personally, I would trade for Jimmy Butler because I think he has a higher ceiling than any player we could take at 3.

If #3 got you Jimmy Butler straight up, I'd do that in a heartbeat.  There has been no evidence that's remotely a realistic possibility, however.

What would you do, if the options were
-Draft your binkie
-Trade #3 + #16 + #35 + AB for Butler
-Trade #3 for Okafor straight up

(I'd trade for Butler).

I would trade #3 for Okafor in that situation.  3 first round picks plus Avery Bradley for Butler is just too much.

I wanna roll the dice on the BPA. Could "potentially" turnout to be a franchise player, with the
opportunity to lock him up for many years, at a bargain.

I went for Okafor. I think he is going to be a legit star. He'd go 1st this year. I also think Butler would cost more assets than Okafor and to me that counts against him.

However if it is #3 straight up then Butler is a no brainer

Apparently the Spurs n Lakers are in a battle to get Okafor, he's gonna be the next Tim Duncan type big. Shoot for Whiteside or Horford in Free agency.

I think it all depends.  Depends on what Ainge is trying to do ultimately or can do.  What he see's in guys like Brown, Chriss, Bender, Hield etc..  What other options may be available.  Butler is the guy who could make the most immediate impact imo, but none of those guys are winning us a championship alone.  Okafor has the best long term potential.  There aren't many big men like him with his combination of scoring and rebounding ultimately.

This is the kind of thinking I don't understand.  If you believe Butler > Okafor (and I do) then go for that guy.  It's not quantity of assets you have to give up but what they bring in return that counts.  I happen to think that Jimmy Butler is on the cusp of being an elite player.  Okafor may be an all-star at some point, but I doubt he would ever be elite.  I just don't get "settling" for Okafor, because of +/- a couple of mid-1st round picks that in all likelihood will turn into good but not great NBA players.

I don't know if his ceiling is higher than any player. He's pretty much right at were he's going to be. He's 26, will be 27 buy the start of the season. He's a VERY good player, but to say Okafor and player X that we haven't seen play in the NBA doesn't have a shot to being a better player is a bit crazy.

Butler shot 31% from 3 this year, and people on here rip Smart for shooting close to the same his rookie year. AB cost half as much and gets 5pt less a game.

I'm not of the Bender band wagon, not yet anyways, but Brown,Murry,Heild could all have greater ceilings or as high ceilings as Butler, and be there in a couple years. Okafor is 20, and is a really good low post player, playing for a crap organization, who was more focused on getting the #1 picked than developing their players.

Now if you have a legit shot at Durant, yes you trade #3 for Butler, and even give up AB or Smart if you have to. But if Durant isn't an option, I'd roll with Brown,Murry, or Heild. I'm leaning to Murry right now because of his age, and how competitive he has been rumored in work outs. But Heild is right there because I think out of those three, he's the most NBA ready.

There's evidence that he's available, but surely not at that price.  I agree that you'd take that deal.

I'll preach patience. Build through the draft. Grow some young guys in the Celtics culture and build a winner that'll last a long time. If Butler were available to #3 straight up? Sure, I'd do that. That'd be a great deal. But for anything other than a great deal, I think the C's should use #3 and package some picks and prospects to move up or get a youngish vet.
