I am not saying this is definitely the case but lets say hypothetically Dunn is the most talented player in the draft and could possibly be the second coming of CP3...what does Ainge do?

We have I.T (essentially the face of the franchise atm) Smart and Rozier who all player Dunn's position and given that Stevens and Ainge want to continue to contend and move forward, picking Dunn would hurt us in the short term even over Bender as although Dragan is underdeveloped he could be another warm body in a depleted front court.

I really think what Ainge does this offseason may shape the teams future for the next decade which is very scary/exciting!

If Danny believes Dunn is BPA (which he certainly could) AND he's comfortable with Dunn's injury history, then he absolutely should draft him. We could incorporate him into the offense quite easily by 1. Letting ET go 2. Moving one of AB or Smart. IT can continue to play 32 mpg, getting roughly 20 minutes on ball. Dunn could serve as the primary ball handler for 28 minutes, which would be plenty for a rookie, and he could play alongside IT since he is a long/athletic/skilled defender.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I actually think Dunn is the bpa at 3 and would be a great pick
A lot of scouts are thinking it now

I would choose him over bender and others
only problem is his injury history
I don't think that him being older has any impact on his potential as he sat out 2 seasons and still has shown room to grow with his athleticism

If Danny chooses him
Ainge should try trade out some guards to make room for him

Danny should pass on him since he refused to work out with the C's and close his medical condition. If ever he is drafted by the Celtics, it would be as a trading chip.

If they feel he's the best player available then you gotta draft Dunn at 3. Personally I don't think he's that good. He was good in college but didn't exactly dominate. Only average like 16 points a game and didn't dominate in the tournament. Then again Westbrook didn't put up great numbers at UCLA.

Then we'd have a BPA who would be the worst fit available. Hopefully we could pull a trade.

The only way I'm comfortable with this pick is if there is a trade already agreed to for either Smart or Dunn.

My preference would be to trade Dunn, as he strikes me as a good, not great PG prospect. His age and FT% concern me a bit, and I'd rather take my chances with Smart who is exactly 12 days older than Dunn.

That said, if we trade Smart for something we need and opt to keep Dunn I'm also quite comfortable with that choice by Danny.

Danny answered this question before it was asked.  He will take BPA.  It is not uncommon for high draft picks to be traded, sometimes right on draft night.

Depends strongly on Smart's trade value to me. If he can net real value, I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade to Dunn over him.

If Dunn's the BPA, I think the best move would be to package the #3 and possibly Smart for Butler
I'm bitter.

You draft him then maybe move Rozier. Teams have inquired about Rozier already so they must expect DA might draft a guard at 3.

You draft him and look to trade Thomas or Smart if that's necessary in your mind.

If Dunn is BPA then that means we've traded back to 6 or 7 and picked up some additional assets in the process.  Depending upon those assets, that could be a good thing.
