Just reflecting on how down in the dumps and hopeless this forum was in the aftermath of the KG/Pierce trade to now. After not getting lucky in the lottery the first year we tanked and after losing out on Kevin Love, we are still in great shape as a franchise. Even if we dont get a major free agent like a Durant this offseason we still have the #3 pick along with a few other firsts. We still OWN the Nets franchise for the next 2 years by having their picks and we will still be a young and flexible team all with great contracts. No reason to think we wont at least be the #3 seed next year and hopefully playing in the ECF.

The future is bright in Boston!

I agree with you!  Vegas has us as a top 6 team.  No one knows how good #3 or even if it will be ours.  Bottom line is we are a team trending upwward.   To many people on this board are wrong a lot.   A LOT!

Diggles, some people here are only happy when there's misery. They were far happier when the Cs were winning 20 games a year rather than almost 50. They think there's only one way to build a team and that's to tank as hard as possible for as long as possible to get that magical #1 pick that will somehow turn it all around. That's why many of those same people continue to tout every Philly pick of recent years. It's because Philly has followed their magic formula for success and they're so invested in tanking that they somehow think that all the Philly picks are sprinkled with fairy dust. Never mind that Philly won a whopping ten - TEN!!!! - games last year with all of those supposed excellent assets.

Some of those same folks are calling Bender the "Eurobust" and other assorted names without ever having seen him play in a game. Hield can't shoot. Murray is too slow. Blah blah blah. So you consider the source and once you realize that those same unhappy people are the same ones who only want the Tankapalooza, it's easy to discount their option. That's why they dismiss the #3 pick as virtually worthless and try to downplay every single existing player on a 48 win team that was the youngest team in the playoffs. It's because it wasn't built "their way" and they lack the imagination to see that a winning team and be built - and built well - from multiple approaches.

You know, I have no idea if Bender is the real deal. I haven't seen him play. I'm not privy to the private workouts Ainge is attending right now. No one on this board is. So if Ainge selects Bender #3, I have to assume that he's done his due diligence. But take stock that it's the same negative nancy's who are downplaying his abilities are the same ones who aren't happy unless the team is losing.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

It's a middling team without a top end talent.  In the NBA, that's not great shape.  The Brooklyn picks will play a big part in determining what shape the team is in moving forward.

With young players, a ton of cap space and loads of picks (some of them could be lottery bound) I count as great shape.

I agree. We could end up with Jahlil Okafor this year, Jason Tatum next year and Deandre Ayton the year after that.  While continuing to make the playoffs. Plus the occasional diamond in the rough we find with the plethora of later picks we have. With Brad Stevens at the helm.

NBA history is clear on this.  If you don't have top end talent, you're pretty much stuck waiting to find some, because that's how you win.

But...but...but...CoachBo has a friend/GM/scout who has always been right when Danny has been wrong. And CoachBo's friend/GM/scout who has always been right says that Bender is gonna be a bust!
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Amazing shape.  It's hard to imagine us going backwards next season.  We are already a solid team with a ton of options for improving.

Talent you get by grooming young players, managing cap space and picks, that the Cs have in abundance
