I liked the piece a lot. Good info from scouts in there. Interesting that Kupchack was there too. Seems like a very good kid.

Also liked how they compare Bender with Porzingis at the same age, and how bender matched up against Porzingis in a game and held his own, which is impressive seeing he was younger than Porzingis
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

worried he might have a short career.
sounds like he's already played a ton of hoop for a kid his age/size.

Thanks for this. Sounds like the kid is exceptionally mature and hard-working, as well as talented.

Very good find.

He's going to be very good in The Association.

While it's true that there is not a lot of production, this really explains it well.

"Bender's recent sample size is small—he played in only 10 games with Maccabi this season in the Euroleague and averaged 8.6 minutes per game and 1.5 points—but it's worth remembering he's younger than most NCAA freshmen and has been playing and practicing against professionals in their 20s and 30s."

ha, ha...i know. for some posters he has too little experience. for others he is old and worn out before his time.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

as long s he plays through the rookie contact.    after that expires when you should be concerned.

And things won't change for the next 2 years in the NBA

Would this age excuse fly or Towns? Wiggins? Etc  In the same situatiom

We can only pray.  AA needs to keep marketing him to the world.

This is a good read. Thanks.

I especially like the quote about expressing beauty through the game. It's an underrated quality that Euro players seem to understand better than many American players, though I think sometimes it contributes to the rep euros get for being soft.

If Towns or Wiggins had played their rookie year on a playoff team, with more talented teammates, they would likely not have gotten near as many minutes.

If Bender gets drafted by the Lakers or Suns, he will get a ton of minutes.  If Boston drafts him, maybe not quite so many.  Or even a stash.

And yes, the Lakers have scouted him.  Kupchak himself went to see him.

The article also mentions how his brother tore his knee up, and that Dragan is careful not to put himself in that position. Maybe explains why he doesn't mix it up inside as much as we may want him to.
