Sixer fans seems to be enormed at the possibility of drafting him and PG position is their biggest need at the moment. People expected the Cavs to draft Noel and Lakers to draft Okafor. I wouldn't be surprised if the drafted a prospect outside of Simmons/Ingram.

The #3 pick isn't the best pick, but I think it is so much more valuable than the 4. I think we might be sneaky looking at a 3-person draft here:

So Philly really likes Kris Dunn. The Lakers supposedly also really like Kris Dunn. He seems to be gaining momentum. Philly can't draft another big, can they? Wouldn't they really want a PG? Wouldn't the Lakers interest in him alone, be enough to almost force them to take him (since they couldn't trade back with us and get him)

This is my point... If Dunn goes 1 or 2, or people even THINK he will go 1 or 2, doesn't that put us square in the middle of the Ingram/Simmons position? I think it does.

If we can land one of those 2, I think that makes our pick about 5x as valuable.

The Sixers will not select Dunn with the 1st pick.  Will not happen.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Of course Philly can draft another big, and then just trade Okafor.

I don't think either Philly or LA are dumb enough to screw this up. (famous last words)

Do you have a source that says either Philly or LA is considering Dunn over Simmons/Ingram? TP if you do, that would be very interesting.

Now there are multiple threads suggesting Philly and LA may not pick Simmons/Ingram.

Where do these silly ideas come from?

If this is true (and i doubt it, but), i wonder if they would want #3 plus, say, bradley and/or sully and/or later picks or future picks for #1. That could remake their backcourt in one move, core of dunn/murphy, bradley, embiid, noel, okafor.

If anyone, the Lakers possibly as a long shot to.  Supposedly they love Dunn.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

I think we would all poop our pants if this happened, but the link says they would take Dunn with a top 3 pick, not pick him over Simmons/Ingram. Taking him third makes a lot of sense since nfw on Bender and they could use more of a PG than combo guard in their backcourt.

If Dunn is that good, shouldn't we be happy taking him then?

Perhaps Philly will trade Okafor for the pick that becomes Dunn.

We arent getting Simmons or Ingram folks. It's over.

That absolutely makes good roster sense.  Draft Simmons, find a trade partner to land Dunn (and something else) for Okafor.

Boston makes sense in that regard something like 3, 23, and Rozier for Okafor (it will take more than 3 to land Okafor I think).  Boston gets a gifted offensive center better than anyone available at 3 and consolidates the roster a bit in the process.  Philly gets their PG of the future (Dunn or Murray), a solid back-up PG, and another draft pick for their "extra" center.
