The Celts desperately need a star.

Bender could be a bust but I think the pick at 3 has got to be him unless it's traded for Okafor or Butler.

Close your eyes, hold your nose, and hope like heck for the next Porzingis.

I think Bender is too big of a risk.  Murray and Hield are almost certainly going to be good players.  If we end up with nothing from the #3 pick because Bender busts, that will be hard to take.

Yeah. People need to realize that this pick is the crown jewel of the Pierce trade.

It'd suck to whiff on 2 of the Nets picks, first Young and now bender.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Very rarely do European players work out.

Dirk, Gasol X 2, Gallinari, Giannis, Parker, Batum, Vucevic, Dragic, Rubio, Gobert, Porzingis, Gortat, Diaw, Mirotic

... and lots I've overlooked.

Ginobili is awesome too, just adding to the list.

Provide the math please comparing outcomes for foreign players compared to NCAA/NA HS players at different draft positions.

Because I think you don't know what you are talking about.

Valenciunas.

Jerebko!!!

I'm skeptical about claims that NCAA players disappoint less often than foreigners.

Ginobili is Argentinian. Long ways from Europe.

That's the reality of picking outside of the top tier of the draft.

Murray or Hield might have a better chance of being NBA role players.  The Celts need somebody with a shot at being a star.  Or at least a multi positional guy with real size and shooting ability who unlocks the kind of small ball lineups that are dominating the league these days.

Am I the only one confused by Ford thinking the Celtics would go after Murray? I'm a draft-the-best-player-available guy but is he that much better than anyone else in that tier that they're going to take another combo guard with Thomas, Bradley, Smart, and Rozier on the roster already?

He would create a logjam for sure, but he brings elite shooting which is something we don't currently have.

Yeah, it's the shooting. If not, I think we might go after Dunn.

Bender's lack of production in Europe scares me.  2 points and 1 rebound per game?  I know he's young, but Yikes.  I'd be surprised if Murray or Hield end up as only role players.

I like Dunn, but how would he and IT look on the court together?

I think Murray's a little misunderstood of a player.  I actually don't even think he's a combo guard at all.  IMO he's a pretty pure SG being asked to run PG for a college team.  He had more TOs than assists.  His best skills is scoring in general and he was particularly great shooting off of screens.  He can shoot from deep and slash, which we could use.

Yeah the fit isn't ideal from a rotation perspective but his shooting and scoring in general would be good for the team.  I'm thinking he will be the best player available, unless Ainge believes in Bender.

They all have an outside chance of being a star.
