I don't even see ainge moving the pick unless it's for certain guys.  Ainge himself says the media has this draft portrayed a certain way.  Brice Johnson is another guy I think he targets.

Yup.....luck is over

Danny has to IMPROVE the Celtics talent

Luck would be over if we got 5 or 6... Top 3 (even in a hyped 2 person draft) isn't bad at all. Murray is looking awesome in workouts. Maybe he'll just straight beast it into June and people realize there's talent outside of the top 2 :)

Or we trade it as the OP suggested which would be fine as well
I think his point is that we can't hope for luck anymore because the lottery is over and picks are set. Now Danny has to make moves.

Well, of course he is only going to trade the pick for someone he wants.

Maybe an opportunity to trade down and grab another asset on the way if danny isnt convinced of the value at 3? Then you grab Poeltl and something else.

Maybe he really like jaylen?

I'd take Murray. League is trending for guys like him. Look at curry and Lillard. Even IT. Guards with serious shooting range that can shoot off the dribble are starting to become really prevalent.

He can slash and shoot.  We can use both badly.  Yeah, guard isn't a perfect fit but I agree with you.

Hield is appealing too as a more pure shooter but I think Murray could be a dynamic player how you are saying.

On one hand, it's a really tough position to be in if Ainge keeps the pick, because it will be really easy to screw up.  Inevitably someone will be great and people will whine for years about how Ainge blew it.  High probability there will be someone better taken after #3.

On the other hand, it's the ideal position to be in if Ainge trades the pick.  It would be hard to stomach trading Simmons or Ingram, but moving the #3 pick shouldn't upset anyone too much.  And assuming Philly and the Lakers keep their rookies, there's no better trade asset than the 3rd pick in this draft.

I know it's a long shot but is it possible to trade up for Simmons or Ingram? I think it would be unprecedented but if anyone could do it, it would be Ainge.

Ainge doing his thing... So let's see who is undersized, no true NBA position, and a suspect jumpshot?

Kris Dunn or Jaylen Brown, I bet.

Ainge will avoid the obvious Euro and the Celts will get another scrapper who can't score.

Or so my fears would have me believe. I hope not.

Kris Dunn is not underszied and plays Point Guard.

Sure, but he has tons of turnovers which calls into question his ability to run an offense. His jumper is very inconsistent as well.
