Saying Jamal Murray has suspect character because he dosn't defend is way off. Its more like he has difficulty defending at a high level due to less than ideal athleticic ability. Not really a character flaw, more an inherent shortcoming that he makes up for on offense. Still a near ideal player to stick next to Smart with his decision making and shot creation.

Both could switch off playing lead guard and Smart could take the tougher backcourt matchup. From everything I've read about him Murray is a high character kid.

I would not consider that an Ideal pairing considering Murray's questionable ball handling and playmaking ability (< 1 AST:TO) - neither of which are really strengths of Smart's game.

There is also the issue of size and athleticism.  Smart is 6'3" and Murray is 6'4" an neither is especially light on their feet athletically.

I actually think that would be a really poor pairing, personally.

Murray and Thomas would be bad also, because the defensive liability would be tremendously bad...though Murray's shooting would help Thomas in getting space offensively, I'm not sure if that would offset the horrible defence.

Rozier and Murray would probably be the best pairing, as Rozier can cover for Murray's lack of quickness and defensive limitations, and both guys can score.

I think Hield is a far, far better fit here.  He's a much better athlete and a much better defensive player then Murray, he's bigger, and he's an even more dangerous shooter.

What about Kris Dunn, no one mentioned him. Does anyone has info about his character?

I've learned over the past year that Ben Simmons is the devil, all reality aside.

These are kids coming into a locker room of grown men. You telling me that Brad,  IT,  Smart  and  Crowder can't deal with someone with an attitude problem?

This is the same complaint people had about James Young being lazy and even though he didn't develop into the player we wanted his work ethic was completely changed. Why should i think differently for another person coming in

I was hoping we would wait until these kids (whom none of us really know squat about as real people) were drafted on to other teams before we start the dubious, unsubstantiated character assassinations.

Whomever the Lakers or Sixers pick will be lazy, lying cheating punks.

The kids WE draft will be saints, gentlemen and statesmen, of course.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

I've seen Murray play quite a bit and he's an extremely lazy defender. It may not be a character flaw, but it's a huge negative for the Celtics.

I havent seen that anywhere. I didnt watch a ton of Kentucky so I cant really say, but all the scouting reports Ive read seem to say he has bad lateral quickness so he struggles defensively but did a pretty good job with awareness and positioning allowing him to play decent team defense. That sounds like it would fit really well next to Bradley and Smart.

Well I'm asking you to trust me that his defense was absolute garbage in college, and I really wanted to like him game, and I do on offense. Defense is pathetic.

Put Dunn in the high character slot. Unbelievable  story of overcoming adversity. His mom was a cleptomaniac, always stealing, was jailed for a long time Kris and his brother raised themselves until there father tracked them down and basically rescued them.

Kris was earning money at 9 years old gambling on basketball and Dice. If he lost he ran away because he had no money. Crazy story.
