The guy wasn't productive in the euro league so it stands to reason he won't be quite ready even if he was a star in the making. Stevens is only about winning immediately. Bender wouldn't play. He'd play Sully or Jerebko before him. We're not about developing young players under Stevens. The only reason Rozier got minutes is injuries which revealed he should have had more time all season.

maybe, but in recent memories, a lot of GMs missed Giannis and last year the Knicks found their gem in Porzingis. Do you think Danny or if we choose to pass on him, other teams would pick him up?

Guys who are stars in the making tend to force their way onto the court. Terry Rozier played well but he was behind Turner Smart Thomas and Bradley. All for of those guys deserved major minutes.

Also is the point of this post specifically about bender or is he just a mechanism for you to criticize brads coaching style (which wouldnt necesarily be unfair).

Stevens is about developing everyone.  He's not about force-feeding minutes to young players.  You learn how to become committed to the defense, then you get to play.  The Celtics could get the first pick and that player will not be treated as if he is entitled to any minutes.

Bender had a run of productive games recently and he's I believe the youngest player in the draft and also up against better competition than most people in the draft this year too.  He managed to get minutes on a team that is better than the team of any other prospect this year when they are trying to win and know he's leaving.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
They'll bring him in and work him out. If he looks good doing what they ask him to do then they'll consider him.
The celti s aren't drafting for need at a pick this high. They're taking the best player.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bender moves ahead of Ben Simmons on Ainge's board.

I could see it happening, unfortunately, because of the apparent attitude issues with Simmons. Bender has that "good kid" appeal on him, but I truly hope Danny is better than that. I'm not a fan of drafting based largely on character. At the end of the day, talent trumps all.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I would.  Simmons is an NBA-ready player with Hall of Fame upside.  Bender is neither.

Bender is by far the worst player in this draft.

I've yet to find him ranked lower than 5th. You are wrong.

I think there are legitimate reasons to be concerned that Simmons is too mentally soft to be a star.  He seems like he could be a bigger, better, but less intense version of Jeff Green.  On the other hand, Bender comes across as the opposite of soft.  Ainge values toughness and competitiveness.

"Less intense version of Jeff Green"?? Is that even possible??

I can't deny its a huge frustration for me about Stevens and Danny allowing it. As soon as I learned of the hire I expected win now at cost of the future. It drives me crazy. I predicted the Lee signing and that we'd start him even though he'd be no part of the future.
